That add has been interesting. A few minutes researching current values on the internet, for a 6 figure car, would have saved some frustration for himself & the potential buyer. Welcome aboard! When you get a chance, post pictures of your 5000S.
Its hard to value anything these days when you see 328GTS -308 being put on the market at above $100K. No matter how nice, someone is gonna lose money on some cars. I suspect a lot of new money is going into lesser cars not knowing what it takes to hold on to one and will all end up dumping them later on.
I bought a Diablo roadster a few months ago. For the two years I was looking, prices were flat. Now the late models have jumped $20-$30k. You also don't see many (any?) early cars under $100k, when they were plentiful before. And the inventory of cars has shrunk by at least half.
Modern Ferraris are a tough judge for me since they made so many. Maybe a 512TR works, ugly dated styling, but is the last mid-engine 12 production car they made. Wish I had enough money to buy a Boxer a couple of years ago to pair with the Diablo.
Welcome to LamborghiniChat. I have a 1984 Euro spec Countach as well that I have owned now for eleven years. At times it has been a challenging ownership, however I have learned a lot over the years. Feel free to PM me if and when you have a problem. Sincerely Vic
UK right hand drive market is even more out of synch with common sense. Try $170k at today's exchange rates... Used Cars - 1989 Ferrari 328 GTS - 1989 F Rosso An RHD 365GT4 BB just sold for $550k! People are paying almost twice as much for some Right Hand Drivers as they could pay for identical left hand drive cars. My LP400S is LHD, and I also have an LHD Lancia Integrale - it takes about 5 minutes to adjust to driving on the 'wrong' side in the UK, and there are many more resale markets. The good thing about the Countach is that it seems to becoming valuable in both configurations, which to me shows that it's more of a real 'global' car than say a Challenge Stradale which will currently sell for almost $350k in RHD, but $170-180k in LHD!
Did not seen that one!! That is the pure definition of insanity. Even if one can argue the 365BB or the countach are not in a bubble and deserve the price, the various other listings on other cars clearly indicate an overvalue, overactive market that is in acceleration. I wonder if this house of card will last until next January. To me it feels it is totally out of control as buyers are just swallowing anything with 4 wheels with a euro badge.
Just got a sales email from French dealer, not sure if cars have been mentioned on here already: They are promoting the Yellow 5000S RHD at a "newly reduced" price of €295,000, and the red LHD QV at €350,000 No price quoted for the LP400S1 AUTODROME Specialiste Lamborghini Ferrari Pagani Maserati achat vente automobiles classiques, sportives et de collection
you are behind the curve! the yellow is sold already.. not sure about the QV. given the price on the 500S, at $500K I think the QV wont last either. lol...
It was only a few months ago that I had a few L Chatters etc contact me with interest to buy my Bianco Perlato Downdraft Anniversario. My comments to them were that it was not for sale and needed to be a very significant number to even entertain selling. Then just this week an Englishman offered me 165 U.S so it proves not everyone is up on the market.
Sports Car Market magazine is having a poll for their cover car for next month's magazine cover. It is between the recently-sold LP400, a Ferrari 375 race car, and a project Aston. The poll is at this link below. I would suggest we Lambo enthusiasts log on and vote for the Countach. I am so sick of the endless Ferrari hype and seeing them on the covers of everything, and would love to see the LP400 be on the cover of next month's magazine. September 2014 Cover Poll
Amazing what a year makes. The Countach might be the perfect flipper car for the moment. There can be such a spread. Long term owners that don't read the forums are in for a big surprise.
Interesting ad - I wonder what this will fetch.. Last Lamborghini Countach For Sale (1990) on Car And Classic UK [C517249]
