I have a 2000 360 and am planning to upgrade the TCU. Big question...go with the last 360 upgrade TCU, or get the 360CS TCU. Is the CS TCU "plug 'n play" with the 360 (except for the PIS setting changes using an SD2)? Any advantages of the CS TCU over the standard TCU?
Go to Ferrari and buy the racing exhaust system, They are clearing them out for $1800, comes with upgraded ecu. I bought just the SC ecu for $2000 and thought I got a good deal. So this is a home run. Yes it is worth the Money either way to upgrade.
I have a original TCU for sale if You decide to go that way....... Heres the add from club scuderia : I got lucky and purchased 2 of these very sought after factory original items. I needed only one, and I bought the other for a friend, but he decided to sell his 360 modena and instead he bought a F430, lucky him So now I am selling this unit, it fits all 360 with F1, here is how to install it properly: You have to make sure they do it in sequence as follows: 1. Plug in an SD2, and on the parameter page, read the "new closed clutch position" and note it down. 2. switch off the battery (obvious, i know, but you'll be suprised the amount of times i've seen e.c.u's destroyed if this isn't done!) 3. Swap it out for the new t.c.u 4. switch on the battery, switch on the ignition and leave for thirty seconds. 5. plug in the SD2. On the diagnosis page, write the original closed clutch position figure into it. 6. Set P.I.S. to around 4.7 to begin with.( this can be played with later to suit) 7. Now on the diagnosis section of SD2, a FULL cycle test has to be carried out. 8. Next, under diagnosis section, carry out a self-learn. At this stage, you will probably still see a blank screen. 9. Switch off the Sd2 and then the ignition. Leave it for thirty seconds, then switch the ignition back on and manually run up and down the gears. By this time you should see your display working and gears should all be selecting as they should. If it's all o.k they just need to fiddle about getting the P.I.S setting right until the change is quick. It will improve Your upshifts dramatically, and downshifts will be spectacular. Price at Eurospares retail is 1242+VAT I am selling this for GBP 800,- incl. shipping anywhere in Europe secured tracking. Cheers Thomas
At $1242 (presumably plus shipping) that is a good deal. Although it's not the CS TCU it should be better than the one in the 2000. A member here sells re-flashed TCUs with the CS firmware -- you might want to see if he has any. He is Eric355. Alan
The ecus that come wth the exhaust for for fuel injection not the F1 TCU.. IS the Racing Exhaust System worth it.. YES... but.. if your looking to improve the function of the F1 trans. then upgrade the TCU.. They are several versions.. the best 360 version would be part number 211023 or you can go with the challenge stradale TCU which from what I hear is king. Earlier TCU's are a waste of money and a challenge (race car) TCU will not work.. Pick your poison.. me.. I would go with 211023 this way all the suspension switch functions as designed. You still need a SD2 and set the PIS.. R
TCU upgrades are only really noticed on the track, if you are going down the box at high rpm it will limit the clutch slip thus reducing the wear rate of the clutch plate, CS TCU software works better than the older F1 TCU that's a given, for road use the difference is minimal having driven a few 360s with different TCU units it was hard to pick the difference between them to be honest.
Anyone have a link to the Ferrari place where I can grab an exhaust system? Already got the TCU but who cares.
Not the best video in the world, but this can give an idea of sound and downshifts with the CS TCU, is my 360 Spider with factory racing exhaust and CS TCU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcttvSl5G_8&feature=youtu.be Thomas
Here is another want from a race track in Poland, its a nice and calm couple of laps......... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWdKb5zri0s&feature=youtu.be Also listen to the downshifts
If you are looking for a CS exhaust system, I would recommend Mr Reynolds at Ferrari Tampa Bay. Fast shipping and excellent service overall. Send me a PM if you want his email. Forgot to mention great price also.
i disagree, i went from the very first version tcu to a CS one and the difference is night and day, whether im driving slow, or pushing it.
Drive them back to back and it is obvious. If there is time between the drives it would be difficult to tell the difference.
