15 hour drive in a 348 - what to pack?

Hello Guys

I left a deposit on a 348TB this morning. My first Ferrari Flying in to pick it up on saturday and driving 15 hours back.
The car has new fuel pumps, plugs, injectors, spark plug wires, coil packs and fresh fluids. and is ready to go. It has only done 1900KM in the last 7 years prior to the service.
A friend is comming with me, we are both mehcaniclly inclided.

I dont really wanna check an entire tool chest lol What common sizes should we bring?
Should we bring plugs? alt. belt? Anything common? Fuses, relays?


I am driving from Moncton NB, to just north of Toronto, Ontario.

Seriously.... don't pack any tools. Get your auto club membership up to date. Pack a camera, cellphone and some Aleve.

I remember my first 348, a 91TS, drove it back from Miami for a 900 mile trip, it was incredible. You will be just fine, specially if your 348 still has its tool kit, the only thing missing would be maybe some duck tape just in case.

Yes, just in case the transmission gives up the ghost or the side fence of the timing belt pulley breaks free and shreds the timing belt thus destroying all 32 valves in your V8 engine.

You know, like what happened to Dan.

 

Sorry -- Its a US/Canada over the counter pain medication like Tylenol. It is an NSAID type.

 

That's how I picked up mine. Just shy of 800 mile return trip. Camera, cell phone, car charger, change of socks & underwear was about it.

 

Yes, it's naproxen. What confused me is why it's an essential 348 driving aid

Driving a recently purchased car home on a longer journey is a wonderful opportunity to bond man with machine.

Wow that's a long journey to take. You do realize there is no cruise control in a 348? You might want to ship it closer to your house , say 2 hours away, and drive it from there.

Bring a cell phone, cooler and vicoden

Looks like some remote areas in between, so I'll add: bottled water and protein/granola bars.

(and hate to say, comfortable shoes?)

How any miles can I get to the tank? I thinking I am going to get a gas can.

Not worried about no cruise . A friend is coming we will do stints. We have done Toronto to Nebraska and back non stop so this should be alright. I am going to take pics and I might pick up a go pro. I am going to post everything on my blog and I'll post up here
I am extremely excited!

Oh and I could have shipped it for $1200 door to door but what fun would that be!

 

Oh and just avoiding the US. Might give me grief crossing in a car not in my name yet
And good point about water and food!!

Don't be afraid....these cars are very reliable if serviced , don't listen about these "ghosts"

Have fun, and as others have said, have a cell phone or two, your CAA card in hand, and some Tylenol .... Have fun, and don't worry about gas mileage, these cars are fuel efficient on the highway at a steady 2,800 rpm in 5th gear. If you get foot happy and traffic, that's a different story.

PS.... How old are the tires on this car,what kind are they, and make sure they have the proper tire pressure and the alignment is recent enough that it won't pull to one side your entire drive.

 

+1, don't bother, if it breaks call for a tow. I did the same when I bought my 355, a thousand miles home and no issues.

 

Is it hot where your going? If so, lots of water, because the A/C blows.....unfortunately, not literally.......lol

I agree with Daniel; if you aren't handy with the wrenches, just pack your AAA (or whatever the Canadian equivalent is) card.

In the meantime, read my348.com. Even print it out and take it with you, or load it onto your mobile device.

A long road trip is the absolute best way to bond with your Ferrari. Have fun, and let us know how it goes!

 

Drove my 355 home 11 hours from Ohio to new jersey. Almost ran out of gas once. Bring a fuel can and a AAA card.CHECK THE WEATHER!!!!!!!!! I drove 8 hours in terrible fog. It was the first time I drove a Ferrari. ..was simultaneously the best and worst trip I have ever driven. Completely exhilarating and scary at the same exact time. Incredible journey!!!!!!!! Get a lot of sleep prior. I did the trip and it was 41 hours between waking and sleeping. A one way flight to Cleveland. ..AND ONE HELL OF A RIDE HOME. WOW WHAT A DAY THAT WAS. Take pictures! Drive during the day...avoid night driving. Good luck tiffosi!
