Hi all Been lurking here for months, getting guidance from other postings as I made my mind up on the exact order to place - so many thanks to all of you! I am an F Car virgin, but worked for 20 years with a Burago 550 Maranello parked on my desk to help me realise the job was worth it. And so having achieved what I set out to, it seemed right to get the V12 in its current incarnation. After getting off to the worst possible start by misposting here my request for suggestions on routes back from the factory *blush*, here is the spec I have ordered and expect to collect mid September. Things of note that kept me up at night...(very 1st world problem!) Rossi Fuoco Vs some kind of silver: I love the car in both (and others too) and the sales guy helped me make a choice - he said "Imagine you wake up, walk to the bedroom window and look down on the drive - what do you want to see?". Also my wife was initially against the red as too flashy, but then one rainy grey old day she was passed by a silver F car and realised she didn't recognise it and love it the way she should as it disappeared into the gloom. So she was convinced red was the way to go. IMHO Fuoco looks wonderful in any light - god alone knows how many times I went to see cars at the dealer in different light conditions! I went to the factory with my wife and we had them bring into the sunlight those little car like moulds they have in the three shades of red we were considering. Fuoco, Berlimetta and Maranello. I love the Berlinetta cherryness, but the Fuoco just edged it for us in the way it showed off the contours. Painted Interior: I didn't want carbon - had that on my Porsches, and I wanted less race feel and more GT feel to the car. But I didn't like the various grey, silver shades that were all over the cabin. So I had the LED Steering wheel covered in black leather and the centre painted in Argenio Nurburgring along with a load of other stuff, including bridge, cup holder, dash etc. This really had me losing sleep as I had not seen it anywhere. But recently I saw something very similar on a 458 so I am a little more confident now! Wheels: I know darker wheels are in vogue, but I stuck to the standards. They look good to me, shining away in contrast to the smouldering body and echo the interior trim. Here's the specsheet, hacked from Excel. If its not down below, then its as standard. Happy to hear comments! Oh, one last thing - this is a keeper - I have no intention of ever selling it, will use it like crazy (but not as DD in crud) and am making provisions to keep it in the family for 3 more generations! I can visualize your car specs and I'm confident it will turn out to be a thing of beauty. Looking forward to photos of the final product. Congratulations! Cheers,
"I am an F Car virgin, but worked for 20 years with a Burago 550 Maranello parked on my desk to help me realise the job was worth it" Best thing I have read here ! congrats ! I'm going to buy a Die cast this afternoon. Congrats for the F12 and don't forget to post some pictures once delivered
your car sounds fantastic I debated on the rosso fuoco as I love the color but went with Rosso corsa ..not because I liked it more but because I liked it equal, Your car will be great and congratulations on your first Fcar... Mine is not due till Early Dec...
Rosso Fuoco is the most beautiful colour for the F12. I have the same colour with black leather red stitching, Alcantara sky. Rims are painted black gloss. Car is a dream! Enjoy!
Great Choice!! I've also ordered a F12 lately and went with silver, but now I might go with Rosso Fuoco as well. Do you know when you will be allocated one? Also, how much does the paint cost?
Paint was £15k plus change. I had been allocated a July build / Sept collection - but waiting on confirmation. Apparently the short commodity is factory collection slots, not cars, so they are allocating the slots then determining the build date. Cheers! I took the trip to the dealer to look at a 550 Maranello and tripped over the F12...and that's when I lost all sense of self-control. Still feel slightly guilty about it - a bit like declaring undying love for the woman of your dreams from inside prison, but when you finally get out you marry someone 20 years younger! C'est la vie.
Hehe thanks. Reminded me of a dinner I had with my two sons where one was talking to the other one's new girlfriend, who explained she wanted one day to be the editor of Vogue. He said "Its good to have dreams". She replied coolly, "Its not a dream, its a goal". LOL, that was him told!
Awesome colour choice-i have rosso Fuoco myself and can't get enough of it! Like yourself this is also my first Ferrari & couldn't have chosen a better colour! Hope you enjoy it once it arrives!
Hmmm - looks like I'm going to have to wait a little longer. I've been told its now to be built early September with late Sept / early October delivery. Obviously got bumped by someone with a greater F pedigree...
...of the undercoat! Well its better than nothing - at least I know she exists! Look like it will an Xmas present for me. The forecast of early September somehow morphed into early December. Hence no factory collection for me. Interesting (and laughable) aside, I was offered a factory collection slot "sometime around March" as an alternative. And was informed that the practice (under these circumstances where the car is finished but no factory collection slots are available) is to deliver the car to the UK for storage at the dealer, who then ship it back to the factory so you can collect it!! To be fair, the dealer has been very supportive and even loaned me EHF 1 (Currently a Rosso Corsa F12) for several days which was a complete hoot. Can't (but will have to) wait! There you were. Glad to see something is finally happening. Sorry that your trip didn't happen. I must admit I had one hell of a chuckle, when I read that part about storing the car in the UK, and then shipping it back to Maranello Sometimes I wonder what they put in the water. Anyway, I think this is one of those occasions where I think I'm almost as excited as you. Never seen a Fuoco F12, and I just know it will be absolutely stunning. Come Xmas, you need to wrap it in a big bow, with a huge card reading, "From Me to Me". Looking forward to see more.
Just an fyi, the first picture of your F12 you get from Ferrari is the same as everyone else's. Mine is the same as yours and it was over 3 months ago. Notice the trees never move or change for the season. I completely understand Ferrari does this. No reason to take a new picture for each car. At this point in production all the F12's are the same. Great spec's by the way.
Surprises me really. Why bother with a stock picture to the new owner if its not really his? A $400K car with another $25K in taxes deserves a picture of the actual car.
Here's the first real photo, now that clockem has TOTALLY RUINED MY DAY!! (Just kidding, mate ) Image Unavailable, Please Login
Trust me when I figured out the first picture was a stock photo it ruined my day but when you see the second picture like above, it really made my day. The third one is the best. I went with Rubino Micalazato (sp) and your color was my second choice. You will love this car. The first time I really let is out the laughter could be heard a mile away. This really is a very special Ferrari. Enjoy the wait is almost over. Good news, when I got this photo, my car was done and out for testing. The third photo it was already on the boat.
