Just found this wrecked 430 Challenge online a few minutes ago:

Guy Rents Ferrari to Enter Race. Immedietely Wrecks It

I was wondering if this was the same car that is being advertised for sale by taurino racing on this forum:

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/challenge-cars/391077-sale-ferrari-430-gt-challenge-rosso-corsa-year-2007-a.html

The reason why I am asking is because I couldn't help noticing the comment left by forza ccr at the bottom of the page on wreckexotics.
If you look at the pictures of the car that is being sold by taurino racing (posted initially in Nov 2012), and the pictures on wreck exotics: it looks like the same car. Same color, same tires, same rims, same wing. Weird

I don't know about you, but if I was renting a car for $18k I would make sure whomever is renting me the car, has it fitted with good tires. Not you?
If forza ccr is right about seeing the car with bad and used tires, and especially if the driver was not a seasoned driver as wreckexotics mentioned ("a guy that was racing for the first time") this would clearly explain that.
Give "an unknown" race car (with dead tires) to a first time driver, and the question is rather simple: what do you think is going to happen?
Am sure they had some kind of contract (I hope), but if this is true, I wonder what could be the liability of the renter for renting a car that is not "race/track ready"?

    Any opinion anyone????

Wow crazy story. Glad no one was hurt!!!! BUT Why would the owner rent out their racecar... They can afford the car and therefore money should not be a reason for sure. I have 355 Ch car and would NEVER rent it out and for that matter let any one drive it for this exact reason...

They are a race outfit, so they are equipped to fix small dents/replace used parts. So from that perspective and $18k for that type or risk is worth it. Especially when they are already going to Road America supporting other cars. It makes sense. The real questions are:

    - Was the driver really a novice? Then it might have been a bad move to let him go in a 500hp car on slicks and not driver aid. First time i was on the track was on a lotus Elise and i spun twice. Cant imagine going first time out in a 430C. At Road America where you have high speed straights and different elevations.

    - With that said, were they properly insured. If they rent out cars often, then this will be covered. So no big deal.

    - Were tires really shot? I doubt it but wasnt there. Taurino seems to have a very good reputation. I have seen them on diff tracks and they didnt strike me as newbies.

    That's a very good reply.
For the tires, I just applied "deduction" and based on the comment left by Forza CCR on wreck exotics. As he stated, "he was there and saw the tires which appeared to be quite bad and worn". The guy did not even complete 1 lap. If this is really the case, the tires should be almost brand new. No? When I put new tires on my car and do 4 or 5 laps for example, those tires are still quite good and are far from being worn (And I drive quite hard). Am sure y'all racers out there will reckon with me. If you look at the post left on 11/2012 by taurino, it looks like it is the same car, and I could not help noticing the fact the car had the same tires and same rims. I would hope for them they did not rent the car like that with old/dead or semi-dead tires. I wonder how responsible they would be? Try to run any car (race or not) on a track with bad tires. What would happen?

I don't know if the driver was a novice. I certainly would hope not, and I hope for them the car was insured, but often, insurances only cover the driver/owner. I don't think the coverage applies if you rent the car(s) to third parties . With or without Insurance, it is more probable that the driver may have had to sign some kind of "contract" or rental agreement in case something like this was to happen, but again, I wonder what liability would be if the car was rented with bad tires as forza ccr stated? That, I do not know.

I think, and anyone out there can correct me if I am wrong, if you want to rent with Universal Autosports, you can. You just need to give them a check for the value of the vehicle. If you crash, you keep the car and they pocket the check. If everything goes well, they charge you for the agreed rate and give you the check back, I doubt Universal would rent its cars with bad tires. They have quite a name for themselves and for what I've seen out there, they are quite reputable. taurino, I do not know, so I cannot say.

We welcome i independent inspection on the condition of the tires .unfortunately i have seen and heard everything in motorsports ." Its never the drivers fault "
I personally tested the car before sending it to road america .
The tires that we run on the car is a gt3 tire which is wider and has more grip than the standard tire .

You might want to investigate Taurino Racing before claiming or stating something that is not accurate .

We welcome for those that feel we provide a bad service or old tires to get our tires inspected
Our address for pick up is 4188 westroads drive Riviera beach Florida .

we have 4 tires that can be sent.

Also our driver has experience and has being driving race cars in the past .
Also holds a competition license .
We could not rent out our cars to novice drivers .

I do not know who the "FORZA CCR" person is that commented, but whoever this person is they are not an official of CCR or FORZA, or the CCR Forza Tifosi Challenge series. As the founder of the series I can tell you that this person does not represent us, despite the name the person chose for themself.

If the person posting as FORZA CCR, is reading this, I would ask them to please change there name and/or reveal who they are. The comments IMHO are extremely wreckless, and as a litigation attorney I would caution this person on several grounds.

As for Taurino racing, I can tell you first hand, and on behalf of the series, they are an extremely professional company and supply parts to our series. I'd be shocked if this team sent a car out that was unsafe.

I guess these two replies are clear enough. :) Certainly did not mean to stirrup "anything", was just curious as per the comment I read. I know appearances are not always what they seem (reference to the tires), but I was quite surprised initially not only to read those comments, but also to wonder how a car of that value could be rented like that if that forza ccr guy was correct. The explanation above by taurino I guess answers that, and if I was taurino, I would certainly answer the comment from that guy on the wrecked exotic site to clarify his position.
On a final note, personally I do not think I claimed or stated anything inaccurate. I was just asking opinion as this all thing seemed to be quite strange and more over: surprising... Afterall, isn't that what a forum is about?
