    I am looking to build a collection of scale Ferrari models. I believe the answer to this question is Amalgam 1:8 scale, but I thought I would come here and ask the experts. Who builds the finest, most detailed, premium scale models? Thank you for your help.

    If you have the finantial means to buy them and the space to display them(this is a very important thing), i would say Amalgam is the way to go.

    Christian, you are a lucky man, i love your models, especialy the moss swb and the Testarrossa, i have them but in 1/18. Congrats on an amazin collection.

    very jealous! love the 312T2... and SWB. Amalgam models are great for size but I think they are static - non opening & less detailed... but beautiful .... from my experience if you can afford a Michel Conti model they are about as close to the real thing in 1/5 - 1/8th scale as you can get. all made from metal, fiberglass etc... down the last detail... expect $5K - $20K if you can get one.

    MiniDelta I think is the best although Amalgam is also amazing . Minidelta slightly weather their models to make them look almost real. Patrice de Conto and Patrick at Minidelta make amazing large scale models. They always have a display at Retromobile if you want to look at them in person.

    Thank you for all the feedback. I love all of these examples. I may be in the minority, but I prefer the scale models without the livery and patina. I totally understand why people want that, but, for me, I want my models to be rather clean so I can appreciate the lines. Again, I love them all, but that is just me. It seems Amalgam is probably the best and most realistic option for what I am looking for.

    You have to ask yourself what you want!
    What scale, what kind, what price and collectability.

    Do you really want to invest in quality? (be prepared)!
    In large scale, one of the best is patrice de Conto!!! Minidelta
    Each modell is a piece of art.
    Amalgam's are big computer generated diecasts made in fairly high numbers.

    In 1:43, you can choose between a "china"made bbr up to a Steve Barnett or Jacques Brauer for the same money.

    Me, I prefer quality and rarity! I rather buy something really special than in a modell found in many collections.

    Inform yourself on what you want.

    Thanks for the info. yes, I have been doing my best to learn about the options. Posting on here is a big help. These links are a great resource. As far as what I am looking for, I want 1:8 scale, with plenty of detail. I'm not really doing this for investment purposes, though it would be nice is they hold their value to a degree.

    The reason why I think Amalgam may be right for me is because of the depth of models and choices they have, as well as the detail they offer. Also, at least for my personal taste, I don't need to have a lot of patina worked into the cars. I love that look, but for the purpose of how I am going to display them, I actually prefer them looking new and perfect. For example, I like the Ralph Lauren Ferrari GTO they did, as opposed to some of their other GTO's with livery, etc. Again, just my personal taste. Also, Amalgam is hardly cheap, but I'm guessing some of these others you sent me may be even more expensive.

    From what I have seen, Amalgam seems like great quality. If anyone has a different take, I would love to know. Thanks again.

    In terms of value i believe the Amalgams will hold and probably increase value because they don't produce many of each....even a much more comon 1/18 bbr or cmc hold it's value quite well, there are even some hothweels you could buy at the time of theyr release for around 70€ that are now easily worth more than double, and there were 5.000 or 10.000 of them produced!!

    Amazing collection! I really like the 917 and the 250 TR.

    What is your opinion about TSM Models? I found some great cars in both 1/43 abd 1/18 scale but pictures don't help.
