I've had a few chips on mine. Did you remove the metal key ring? I just used a piece of window blind cord to connect my fob to the key. However if you keep it in your pocket or the kitchen drawer with other metal objects it will get chipped. I just touched mine up with a small paint brush.

I did that with mine but the paint can still chip if you drop it or it comes into contact with something sharp. I guess powder coating is the only way to ensure no chips.

Amazing threat, just came across it. I sanded and polished mine and left it shiny like this. I also got the Enzo key, but I think this looks amazing! [IMG][IMG]

I painted one of mine, baked it, clear coated it and it still end up chipping. Used paint stripper and then sanded with 320 grit and then used mother"s metal polish. Looks like above.

Is there no electronic internals in the key housing? Prob not considering everyone is baking them.

If these cases are aluminum then they can be powdercoated. It will last forever in comparison to paint. Downside is I'd be worried about it building up too much and horse not fitting back in. Would def only need a baby coat.

Do the Search..... There is a write up on how to swap the key blank. Some modification to the new blank is required.

Good looking key - better than the cheap looking 430 item.

I did mine almost 2 years ago, and it lasted for about a year before it started to discolor (no paint chips). So I just sand it back down to bear metal now. I did like it in yellow though, wish there is a more durable solution.

Powder coating. I'm going to have mine done when I get round to it -- I painted it and it still chipped.

After i painted the key,i left it 24 hours to dry. I installed the center cavallino with a small dab of super glue and proceeded to immerse the key in clear polyurethane and let it dry for 24 hours, repeated the same procedure for four more days. One added benefit is that the center cavallino emblem will never fall out because of the heavy coat of polyurethane. Give it a try.
