So, I thought I would start a thread about all the things done to my 2003 3-Pedal 575. The big stuff was done by the previous owner but I have done some daily livability enhancements as the car was my daily driver for nearly 4 years. These small ones are probably of the most interest and somewhat fun. So lets start: Exhaust: -Previous owner replaced stock exhaust with Tubi. Installed by dealer upon purchase and preclude an extended warranty. Wheels: -Car originally shipped with the Modulars. These where replaced with HREC97's (originally chrome now grigio) to accommodate the brake upgrades Brakes: -Car has been fitted with Brembo big brake kit. I'm not 100% sure which kit (looks like 4 piston calipers), but it required the wheels to be swapped. The calipers where done in Yellow with Ferrari lettering, which is quite striking against a Nero 575.
David- Sounds like she has the 380 mm Brembo kit, but I am surprised the 19" modulars would not fit around those brakes. There was only a slight modifiction of the front modulars to go around the HGTC 398 mm front rotors and 6 piston calipers. If you ever get the chance and someone has a later set, you might try and see if they fit. Bill's photo of the late modulars with rim machined on the inside. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Original Wheels, followed by refinish and raw brakes Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
David- Those look like 355s, but am not sure. Looks like the problem was not clearing the rim, but clearing the spokes.
The car was originally fitted with the terrible 1 DIN NAV system. Unfortunately, this had been replaced with a basic Alpine unit when I bought the car. I replaced that Alpine with an Alpine 1DIN IVA-D105 Flip Up. I recently replaced that with a Pioneer X7500-BT. This has a rear camera (license plate camera) Alpine followed by Pioneer Flip out Units Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here is the rear camera, embedded in the license plate frame Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
When the original wheels were replaced the factory TPMS was disabled. I recently added the below TPMS system: Tire Monitoring System (TPMS Accessories) For AUTO TRUCK BUS It is bluetooth to an iPhone and then can output to the pioneer AppRadio function Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
AppRadio is very finicky. You really need an iPhone 4 running ios6, jail broken with AppExtensions to get it working right as a glovebox only device. That said, it is neat. Add an OBD2 Dongle and DashCmd for some fun Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
When I bought the car, I needed to transport an infant in a rear facing seat. I filed out the paper work and got an AirBag shut off switch installed. That company is now defunct, but system works fine. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I had a CTEK hardwired with a grill extension. I can plug the car in/out without messing with the hood or bothering anything. It secures itself nicely to the front PlateClip Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Clearly, we are all familiar with this issue. Competizione handled redoing my dash. Great job. Some pics of the job Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
A simple Fob based trunk release was added, as it really is needed. Not as elegant as the MSW solution, but it works. There is no aftermarket alarm, only trunk release. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Recently had the car fully detailed. Clay bar, buff and polish, and then cQuartz installed. The detailer was very pleased with the results-- and so was I. Here you can see a before after on the trunk and fender. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Good work there Its really nice to see others do things to their car to enhance the driving experience. For a guy if your talents an auto dimming rear view mirror would be a snap. The 599 mirror will fit the mount on your windshield. Couple of wires and bob's your uncle
Glad some approve I do wonder how much I've "killed" the value of the car, even though I think the things I've done are tasteful, subtle and enhance the usability. To be clear, I have zero skills and hired this all out. Competizione handles the mechanicals and big items. FoW helps there too. Driven Mobile Electronics did all the stereo work. They had Trick Trucks do the TPMS. I am good with electronics and design, but implementation is not my strong suit. The auto-dim mirror is on the to-do list, but I kind of spent this years budget on the TPMS, cQuartz, etc...
The front shocks on my car were upgraded to the HGTC front shock absorbers, part number 205288. With the help of Taz and Competizione, we got them installed. I believe I added: 2 x 209909 Complete Front Shock Absorber Support 2 x 10520124 Washer $1.02 each 2 x 204627 Pad Fastening Cup 2 x 203795 Nut 2 x 204206 Hyperblock It has been a while and I believe this was all that was added Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I had pretty much all the plastic bits redone by Robbie. This includes the handbrake, interior door opener cups, AC vents, switches and buttons.
David- I remember that. I forgot whether they were fronts or rears and gave you all the wrong mounting hardware part numbers. One of my dumber days. Great price on those shocks, even if it did take $600 or so worth of extra bits to mount them.
Ah how to modify or not. Original configurations are preferred but its your car so do what makes you happy. However No platino etc for you. GTS Bruce
At a Ferrari car meet you could not compete in the Concours. Show only. Points deducted add up fast. Normal wear and tear is ok but must be original and working. Minus 1/2 point for a different exhaust system. 1 point if a bulb is out. Platino award for 95 point and above cars. Bella Machina for a perfectly working example (original as delivered) . I wasn't prepared. Had a door bulb out and a tubi. Got 95 points. Next time Bella. It's your car so do what you want. In the eyes of Tifosi modified cars are less preferred unless the modification is to fix, install a better part that visually complies. Same for a Viper for that matter. It is the unmolested car that is desired. GTS Bruce
Thanks, I guess I will cry myself to sleep My changes are all easy to undo-- exhaust/wheels/brakes may be costly, but those are value neutral changes in the market. Does not stop the line of offers to buy my car ;-)
