I have all the interior out of mine - 12187, as soon as it's back together, I will take some pic's & post them, give me about 2 weeks!!!!!
I contacted Pirelli about the possibility of having a re-run on the 345/60 R17 tires, see the reply!!!! Good morning, Thank you for your email. Unfortunately I can confirm that the tyre size in question is now obsolete and we have no future plans for production. Regards Sabrina. So I guess we are stuck with 315/70 R17 until someone produces a more suitable option.
Hard to blame them. It pretty much defines a niche application. I wonder if Longstone or Coker would consider it?
They have run 3 batches before for us LM owners. You need to ask her how many sets do we have to order and what's the cost per tire. They will run it if we hit the minimum.
Was going to do it stealth so as not to get anyone too excited. I contacted Coker 8 or so years ago about making them and got no response. I requested again today, and I am waiting to hear back. By all means guys, if you think it will help, start messaging and calling them to see if they will. I'll keep pressing too, but I will not get my, or anyone else's, hopes up.
The best non-OEM tire replacement I've found to date is the Falken Wildpeake A/T 325/70/R17. Look great (IMHO), ride great, and actually add 1" of height over the road Scorpions.
his is the request I sent to Pirelli, I have a Lamborghini LM002, and I am a member of the Lambo forum, there are a number of us in need of sets of Pirelli Scorpion 345/60 R17 tires, how many units would we need to order to get production going!!! there is no other tire suitable for these vehicles!!!! I have just looked at the Falken Wildpeat tire, $300 compared to $1500 a piece!!! I don't see what diameter they are, the BFG A/T 315/70 17 is almost 87cm compared to the Scorpions at 84cm
Here are some options that other LM owners have used: BF Goodrich Mud/snow version Super Swampe Trusts STS KO Super Swamper Hope this helps. Taz
How about this one? Any vin info? The Saddam LM002. War Crimes: Soldiers Destroy Rare Lamborghini LM002 SUV In Iraq
IIRC Pirelli did make a short run of 235/40-17 for Diablo roadster front tires. Why wouldn't they make a couple sets for Scorpion 345/60-17 ? Or any other brand ?
And there are other manufacturers making the 235/40 17, there is only Pirelli that have made the 345/60 17, and now they drop us & not interested in support, I wouldn't mind paying a premium (NOT$1,500 each), The LM002 is becoming a high value vehicle, it is a bit daft that we cannot get the right tires.
Agree. It's been a week, on top of the original request from years ago, that Coker has not responded to. Honestly, there are a lot of newer supercar tires that are being underserved.
Now that I have enough on the list to start understanding the VIN, what I can say so far, is that the trucks were HLA, JLA, and KLA for carbureted trucks , then went to LLA for fuel injected trucks. I also have 2 anomalies so far for the changeover on HLA, where 00000 replaced U45A6, and another where the same 00000 replaced U45A2/4 when the trucks were switched over to the LMA version. The 10 or so interim trucks (of which I have 4 on my list) have either KLA or LLA. HLA seemed to be 1987, JLA was 1988, and KLA was 1989. It also seems that the LLA went through numerous years for fuel injected trucks, and that some chassis numbers are out of order for production date / model year. Now on to deciphering the rest. But before I can do that, I NEED MORE TRUCKS!!!!!!!! I have very good info on 18 and pretty good on another 14. September should change things, no? I know there are former owners on here also, send it in! Here's what I have very good info on: 12041 12107 12149 12154 12155 12179 12186 12187 12214 12229 12234 12250 12252 12263 12264 12265 12276 12298
I bought the last set of tyres that were available at the Factory, which was 6 months back. I used the the one's with the wider lip on my LM002 MK1 and the new tyres on the LM002 EFI which doesn't have the lip.
Just for interest, I stripped all the interior out of my LM, No: 12187 and every item was marked on the back, No: 12183!!!! the man on the live wasn't paying attention. People say that they do not understand why they are so heavy, the dash is made out of pressed & welded steel, it must weigh 15Kg bare, the Hydraulic bump stops are attached to the frame with a bolt with a 25mm shank, a spring shackle on a 30 ton truck is that size, the word over engineered comes to mind!!!!!
I have not pay attention of the part numbers on mine. Yes, the chassis and suspension is truly over engineered. Cooling system is also excellent. What lets me down is the electrical and the fuel lines, hence I redo the whole thing. My car is rebuilt into RHD by Prodrive in UK, the dashboard is made out of packing crate wood which is really junk. I remade them in steel.
Hello everyone, I am the proud owner of a red Lamborghini LM002 from June 1987, the chassis number is ZA9 L0 000 HLA 120 59. The car was bought in 1996 from the second owner. The first owner it seem transformed the car into a rally version and competed in 1988 in the Rally des Pharaons. The entiror is black and the car has been repainted in its original color red because the paint was starting to crack on the roof. The car has been located all it life in Switzerland. We are trying to get a date cert for an LM we are acquiring (that I am procuring for a buyer) now. I hope it doesn't take that long!!!! You owe me pictures I think you have my email through an old PM.
Fantastic, thanks!!! You will have a PM shortly! The roof paint cracking seems to be a common occurrence.
