Tried the search with no luck. For planning purposes I might be moving to Oahu and would love to bring my non-cat euro QV with me. For the experts out there is there anything that would keep me from shipping/registering my baby there? Thanks

You may want to post this in the Hawaii section.

Matson Navigation is one of the main carriers to hawaii. You might have to find a broker or agent.

No, there is no smog requirements there. I shipped my 91 GMC Jimmy to Kona a few years ago. But they do have an "inspection" process that's a bit of a joke. Go over your car and make sure EVERY light bulb works, the horn works and the lights pop up. Oil up your seat belts so they don't stick. And you must have the ORIGINAL insurance cards with you. For some reason they won't accept copies, mobile phone or any other non-original insurance identification...TOTALLY stupid in 2014. But that's the way they do it. Cost me $1k to ship it over from Oakland, CA. And you may need the current weight.

Again, this is on the Big Island so it may be different on Oahau.

Good luck, you'll probably need it.

I ship to Hawaii daily....for a car its Matson....and buy extra insurance, you will be sorry if you don't. Inspect carefully before you drive away. I have a truck sitting in Kona that will require a new paint job after two weeks at sea.

Thanks Craig, I'll be on the Big Island in a couple weeks and will chat with DMV concerning title and I heard the same on the safety inspection, kind of a joke. Sometimes the euro vin# spooks people with a vin search, hopefully the DMV official's are burning the good stuff when I see them.

I understand one can get a single container for a car, is it worth it considering the added protection? The thought of handing my keys to some stranger freaks me out a little.

Just an FYI, don't go there and ask for their "DMV" or you'll get a hairy eyeball. You want to ask for their "Department of Finance" and it's just up the road from the harbor.
