Did the bedding in procedure yesterday and got it a bit wrong, will it make much difference? So, you're supposed to do: 16 x 80 to 30 kph 16 x 120 to 30 kph 5 x 120 to 0 kph using abs. All with 2-3 min driving in between not touching brakes. The middle one by mistake I was doing 16 x 120 to 50 kph (instead of 30 kph) Likely to make much difference? Really can't be bothered to have to do it again unless totally necessary as a pain to do on public roads.
No idea Russell, doubt it hey? Bought the new pads from Eurospares, they did say to me make sure you bed them in properly as they can glaze if you don't.
Can't speak for the Scud but I know of other manufacturers do not from the factory and simply ask the buyer to do it via the user's manual. I know people who have never bedded their CCB's and they have no issues; although they are not tracking the car. If you are tracking the car then it's an absolute must but if just for casual street driving I wouldn't bother. OP, There are enough passes in what you did do that the 20kph difference is negligible in my opinion. I surely wouldn't go through the whole process again just for the minimal difference in speed.
Different manufacturers suggest substantially different procedures, from taking it easy to being very aggressive. Below is a link showing an excerpt from the Modena manual: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/142920244-post32.html
I had the steel brakes replaced with factory OEM ceramics on my F430 recently. The dealership that fitted them had to perform the above bedding in procedure in order for the car to pass its MOT certificate of road worthiness. It failed the brake and handbrake test otherwise!
Thanks for posting. The procedure sounds very reasonable to me, and much more helpful than the information in the workshop manual.
Thanks Mel! I did use that official procedure. Just got the second part mixed up. Was doing 120 to 50 instead of 120 to 30.
