How does the color look in person?
Spectacular. It's a very stunning and striking example and the overal color scheme is very fitting to the shape of the car.
I thought this car set the world record for the highest price ever paid at auction for a motorcar. This is disappointing?
To use round numbers, 2,000 Countachs were built versus 1,300 F40s, that's a difference of 700 units, not nearly similar. Added to that, The F40 was FIA Homologated for racing with a genuine LM version which entered competition at places like Le Mans & Silverstone, and IMSA in the USA, but more to the point, it means the F40 is now eligible for vintage racing, which has huge value appeal amongst racers & collectors alike. You really cant compare the two cars, as they have an entirely different raison d'être, and this affects their comparative value at any given time. Best,
With your numbers, the F512M should bring more money than the F40. ________ Joe is correct. Unfortunately, you also have more people who follow the F marque.
From what Lamborghini registry shows, something like 4 Countach's go in 4 different auctions all this weekend. All different years, this should be very interesting to say the least for the cars. My bet on this car is north of the high est. being 800k.
Nawwww. What I would like to do is put a stack of 100's in front of him and have him choose which one he would like to have more. He does have this thing for $100 dollar bills lately. This should be interesting. When I finally get back from my fishing adventures I'll put him to the test and post a youtube vid. I hope he chooses the car. =)
$900K. here is an interesting take confirming the asset bubble value has reached cars, from an article on yahoo: "But the massive valuations for what's considered the pinnacle of Ferrari collecting reflects the rising value for many other antique vehicles. While much of the demand has come from true car enthusiasts, the latest wave has also been driven by investors simply seeking an asset class gaining in value to park their money." So while some increase is genuine, cars are becoming increasingly looked at as investment assets and increase just like stocks are, in the face of Russia, ebola, ISIS, Syria, Lybia, deflating euro economy etc... watch out when rates go up and the Fed tightens, all of this will be readjusted!!!!
My silver Countach prototype will be off to a new home shortly. So yes there's room but not for another Countach, although I love them.

Not sure what the buyers premium is at RM auctions but I'm sure it pushed it well over $1 million. Image Unavailable, Please Login
