None that I know of. Diablos are not yet being auctioned at the larger well-known auction companies like those in Monterey. There was a Diablo SE auctioned by Coys last year, the first one that I know of. I think that within a few years when we see 90's Ferraris in 348 355 price-range being auctioned, Diablos will follow.
I doubt it will be driven. The "Collector" will want to keep the non road use and low KM's. A pity. But a great looking car
1M dirt cheap for this. I've never seen anything like this car in 15 years of not insignificant Lamborghini collecting and restoration. The car was like being teleported to the end of the factory line. It was brand new. It doesn't look like the car was ever sat in. I was stunned by the quality of the work by the factory back then bc it looked like an over the top restoration. I hope the car will be photo documented for future restorations. (I am told its going to a top specialist for mechanics) As a resource this car is a treasure. This car is the gold standard. Breathtaking and had I known before hand I would have bid more. Absolutely unrepeatable The terrible catch is I don't think anyone can touch this car without ruining it.
Definitely not, this car should remain in this state, for driving you can buy another much cheaper example. Driving this car would devalue it.
Nice, better than I expected. Actually Olivier it puts me an awkward position. Can't sell it, can't drive it, can't insure it. At some point the Insurance companies are going to have to give and allow a true value.
Nah, I'm kidding....I'll still drive it. Maybe keep it to quiet areas around home Ya know, come to think of it, just to celebrate, I think I'll take it out tomorrow morning since it's been very cool in the morning around here.
I inspected it with my guy from RM. I asked him how long did it take RM to get it running (RM owns that car and the boxer as they were found and purchased together). They had it at their restoration shop for months and could not get it running. Anyways, it matters to me but it didn't seem to matter to anyone else.
I saw this car at RM in Chatham prior to shipping it to Monterey. It was basically a "barn find" according to the staff. It was however stunning to see. The shock couldn't hold up the door. They did not start the car. 1981 Ferrari 512 BB from the same family barn find also had less than 1000 miles. It still had the plastic on the seats and door kicks. sold for $430,000. It too was in mint condition. They did not start the car either.
I guess I am getting the hang of this! lol... EDIT: I am still under estimated the strenght of this bubble.Even the stock market bubble is really really strong.
I Agree, the new owner should be extremely selective in choosing who turns a wrench on this car if any wrenches are turned at all.
I've felt that way for a couple years with my car, this really had made it an egg shell car. Hard to believe it brought that kind of money and didn't even run, this really amazes me.
That is really serious red flags. I can understand if no one has touched it BUT the fact that a shop, who is more than capable , can not get it running is alarming. It is not a complicated motor. I have a feeling the new owner will have that motor pulled.
We got to believe that Gary, George, Chad, Wil, Tim, and a few other are more than trustworthy to pull that motor, fix, and install as if it were glass.
Well, I can ask more questions today but it wasn't clear that they fiddled extensively and could not get it to run or they tried a couple of easy things couldn't get it to run and chose not to try more for all of the reasons stated above.
I wouldn't say it stalled but it sort of slowed at mid 6's and shot up again. The last few bids were $50k, $25k, and $20k bid increments so one *****-footed the final few dollars. Strong bidding in my experience, although keep in mind that I'm just a total amateur car collector and not a pro like some other people here.
