So I'm looking for my first true exotic car for 100k or less and following come to mind:

    Ferrari 360
    Lamborghini Gallardo
    Aston Martin DB9
    Bentley CGT

I have a BMW M3 that I daily drive so looking for my weekend fun car. Which would you get and why? I'd expect Ferrari but want to see how you think,

That budget is near early F430 territory. That would be my choice.

For 100K, you could get an Aston Vantage V8 AND a Lotus Elise. Or a 360 + an Elise. There are my choices.

For 100K or less, here are the good Ferraris that I would look at:

    Ferrari 612 (early Base models)
    Ferrari F430 (early, high mileage)
    Ferrari 360, 360 Spyder
    Ferrari 550
    Ferrari TR
    Ferrari 308 QV or 328

Yes, that or a 328 (nice one just sold for $95K at Monterey). Depends on whether you want classic or modern.

The 348 is a good Ferrari too. ;)

It's worth considering. You could get an outstanding one for less than half your budget. :)

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Depends what you want out of the weekend car.
If you want to cruise along the coast in traffic with the AC on I would say AM or Bentley.
If you want to head to the back roads for some fun DRIVING and great noises get the 360. If it is a combo of the above get the 360.

Many consider the 348 to be the worst Ferrari ever made. I believe Ferrari's president actually made that comment.

In addition to high-speed stability issues, it requires an engine out for its major, etc.

However, some have been sorted by dedicated owners and clever shop mechanics. If you can tolerate the engine-out maintenance and can find one that is sorted, then I suppose it could be an option.

Just never liked the 348 and 355 - very beautiful cars, but just too many tragic faults, IMO.

You can get a very nice Maserati coupe for half or less of your budget, complete with Ferrari-based motor and a modern transmission

    ^An old wife's tale.^

As to the question from the original poster. From the choices he listed my vote is for the Gallardo.

Yes, Luca had political reasons for his comments.

The 348 is still a dream machine.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

The Testarossa is a pure 12 with that racing engine from the 7Os from the f1 312t is a bargain.

The 348 is also a great driving car, very old school feel as well , and makes all the right noises.

The gt/4 and 308gtb is a sleeper, the only ferrari carb car you can now buy in this price range that gives you that 60s and 70s feel.

And finally the 328 ..... Yes i am partial to pre Enzo era cars over the newer Luca cars ;)
