    Get a SD2 plugged in and you will discover the problem. I had a TCU fail in my 1998 F1 GTS. It shifted through all the gears both ways without any issues, but it wouldn't select neutral.

    what does the speed sensor look like? Any pics? I think it was wet and thats what caused it. It happened at highway speeds in 5th gear and I couldnt shift up to 6th until I stopped and turned the car off. It happened only when I was racing it around pretty fast.

    I assure you it's the speed sensor. I had the same exact problem. Once I replaced it the car has been fine ever since. I'll try to find the records of what I bought from Daniel to fix it but I remember it took a pretty large wrench to remove and install it. 32mm if I remember correctly.

    Just found the receipt. It's part number 149095 Sensor/Speedo. You'll also need 10263460 Crush Washer. It's part number 34 in the drawing. BTW, it's a pain to get to but pretty easy in the big picture of things.

    thats awesome I havent had the problem since it was wet but Im going to check the connection. Thanks for the diagram! this place is awesome.

    1. Never spray water directly into the engine vents and always cover the engine bay with a shower curtain or something plastic.

    2. The Speed Sensor is sensitive to water, mine failed twice after I drove thru some heavy rains with excess water on the road.

    If its raining, I would park it

    Huh. I just drove through an hours worth of downpours on Saturday and it was fine. It is the third time in 4 years I have had the car in rain and it always works for me.

    The rain makes a bloody mess of things though :)

    Mine gets wet during washing(which is after every drive) and I've got caught in the rain before with no problems. I do think the TCU's do get water in and cause an intermittent SDL. But, I'm about to caulk them with silicone.
