I agree the Vantage platform is excellent for the purpose you describe...it's why I picked one up. I agree most options are frivolous but I do think a nice sport exhaust would be music to the ears.
You're right on the seats, I'm amazed at how comfortable the Vantage seats are - moreso than our Bentley seats.
Congrats on the pick up - what color?

Black on black. I am torn between the white stitching vs the red stitching inside, I am leaning towards the red stitching. I like the $750 Aston Wings on the headrest in lieu of the GT embroidery, but if I do one option, I'll do another, then another, and then it'll be too expensive to take through the McDonalds drive-through.

The sport exhaust is nice, but I find for daily driving, I keep the "sport" button off on my GT3. I like a quiet driving environment, must be getting old!

Hmmm. I have white stitching on black and am partial to that. What color are your calipers? If red then the red stitching may go well, may add a little flare.
I say yes on the Aston Wings, it adds a touch of elegance. You can still order a Big Mac in it ;) just don't eat or keep the food in the car too long to ruin the beautiful Aston leather smell.

Some great posts here and good perspectives....I think i'll go play with their configurator (I'm assuming they have one) and see what it says...

Have to keep in mind that a few year old, barely used DB9 or optioned up Vantage is in the same range...

Keep in mind that the DB9 and Vantage are very different driving experiences. DB9 being much more of a GT car and the Vantage being more of a sporty driver's car. Certainly test drive them - I wish I had test driven my first 2 Astons. 3rd one I got right.

any news about when this new/old car will be in the dealers?

are there any thoughts on how or if the new discounted car will have an effect on the values for the earlier cars both 4.3 and 4.7 versions? when and how much of an effect?

    thanks for the thoughts.

this is precisely why I am contemplating this car. I have been looking at the sls...great car but @ 150k and no manual, I am not yet sold.

the 3,8 GT3 rs hs what I want but is between 150-175k mileage dependent.

the little aston can be had w/ under 10k miles w/ a manual for 50-65k...seems like a bargain!

I am also considering leasing a new gt w/ a 6 speed in the 100k range. the aston seems like a pretty car that will be enjoyable to drive and I save 50k when compared to my other choices. clearly not as fast as the others but the value proposition seems very good.

I am going to call my buddy Daniel @ ricambi to ask how he has enjoyed his vantage as he is a fairly long term owner.

Anyone got an idea of the delivery time if you spec the car out? I am not sure if dealers will have typical inventory with all the options.

The lease price for a Vantage V8 is, it seems, outrageous! Between the "downpayment" and the monthly notes, leasing this vehicle would be around $67,500 for 3 years & 22,500 miles. Note that you can BUY a 4 yr old V8 for about that same price.

Or looked at another way, for about $30K more than the lease, you could BUY the new V8 Vantage GT ($99K).

does not appear to be a very attractive lease plan.

lease a new f type r coupe instead...seems they are keen to transact!

They are calculating the lease on a car with options total cost $125,000, and after 3 yrs worth 50%, $62,500. It is not a base $99K car.

So the depreciation is $62,500. For a base car the payment would be less as the depreciation is less and so is the amount financed.

If you read the fine print : you have the option to buy the car at $50K (or $62,000), or return the car and owe nothing, after 3 yrs.

(There's a 2 yr lease too but the depreciation is almost as heavy.)

There is NO 'ripoff' or anything 'outrageous' in this deal. That's the price to pay when you want a NEW Aston Martin, not a 4 yr old one.

Not to say there's anything wrong with getting a used one.

Btw, You really can't add up payments like that, there's inflation etc, add up your house payment and see what it is.

This Aston deal charges very little interests.

F type is a Gorgeous car.

However Aston is a step above Jaguar in terms of prestige and exclusitivity.

Some might say "I don't care about prestige".

Jags compare with Mercedes and BMW.

    Aston compares with Bentleys.

They are not exactly the same class.

Astons are normally $200K cars. New Jags starts at $46K.

    $1643 X 36 = 59,148
    + 9437 drive off
    - 1643 (1st payment included in 9437)
    - 1800 (security deposit)
    = 65,142

A little bit less than 67500.

65000 in payments for 62000 in depreciation for 125K Aston. Only 3K in finance interests charge for 3 years. Tell me if that is "outrageous" as you say.

Plus you dont have to pay tax for the entire car. Only the tax of the depreciation, which is half. That itself saves you more than 3K.

(Get much less options, and your pymnts drop 20% to around 1300 and total 53k.)

If your credit is not strong you won't qualify for a lease.

Nobody is forcing you to take this offer. Pay cash or finance or get another car if you wish.

It is just another option for those seriously considering of getting a New Aston.

Three bucks per mile ... w/ no residual ownership at all. I'll take the $99,000 deal instead!

If the lease deal is a total of payments of 65 and the residual is 62, that says you pay 127 and own the car if you make that residual payment.

The car has a $125k sticker.

Astons can be bought for 10-15% off of sticker iirc...so paying cash would be around $110.

So, the lease method will be $17k higher than paying cash on day 1. (Ignoring sales tax).

Thus 17k is the implied interest here over three years. I'm too lazy to go do the npv, but my guess is the interest rate is around 6%,

This "choice" of paying cash, buying with a loan or leasing is neither a mystery nor rocket science...excel can tell you which is the lowest npv and then one has to use their own opportunity cost rate to decide which one to use.

I think it is very hard to get an Aston Vantage 10% off let alone 15% unless maybe its a 2013 that has sat on a lot. Dealer would be selling the car at a loss.

Lease deal seems OK. Real question is whether there will ever be any Vantages available for 99k anywhere. I haven't seen any dealer yet with one in stock.

I'm waiting for prices to drop on used Aston Martin DBS my all time favorite AM and the 007 car. Love the DB9 but a DBS would be way more fun! That or a Bentley CGT Supersports are the ultimate exotic daily cruiser on the planet. I'm looking to upgrade my BMW M3 to either one.
