If you take median price of 60K euros and convert to dollars at the current exchange rate your at $81,158.95. Who wants to by mine on sale today $80K buyer pays shipping. What this tells you is that US market is currently underpriced and that is the reason for the reason for the recent price increases. One has to remember we are a global market and prices will eventually equalize. So us buyers now is the time to purchase.

    Menno,

When I said "I have 80488", that meant I have it on my list of cars, not that I actually own it...I have already a red GTB and a NeroMet GTS, that's enough for the time being.
And as for how I know that yours must be 77623, this is because I have it on my lists and that the other I know with full beige leather (so 80488) has been for sale for a very long time recently in Germany, so it could not be yours...

I´ll probably wrong but I think the EU cars will always have a higher price than the US market cars, because of the aesthetic differences. For everyone of us who live outside the US it is more desirable to buy a EU spec car rather than a US spec, even because of the mph gauge.

And the VAT, José...don't forget the VAT, as it was 33% of the price of a Ferrari when sold new at the time in France. Of course, you pay it only once, but it still shows.
There was, and still is, no VAT in the United States to this day.

As for prices today in Europe, it is difficult to say why they seem to be suddenly taking off?
For the ten years between 2002 and 2012, the 328 price bracket has remained very stable at 35.000 to 50.000 euros, depending on condition, mileage, etc. I have seen, and driven, a very low mileage '89 GTS in exceptional condition in November 2012: the seller was asking 54.000 euros.

Then, towards the end of 2013, we began to hear regular prices asked by professional dealers at 65.000 euros (unheard of until now) and 80.000 for exceptional cars.
I suspect that the dealers are trying to organise an increase of prices, and are probing the market: on the other hand, some nice cars between 40 and 50.000 euros are still not selling, so the increase is not an increase of the whole market.

    Hello to all,

I am following the Italian market very closely the last 1.5 years ( I traveled to Italy 4 times during this time specifically to buy a nice 328 gts and a nice 512tr.... ).

Even thought that I see the asking prices moved from Euro 40000 - 50000 range to 60000 -70000 ( for a nice low millage 328 gts ) I also noticed that dealers like Autoluce ( No affiliation with the dealer , but a dealer with very good reputation to me ) has 3 in stock ( 2 gts and 1 gtb ) for several months !!!.

Last year when I was regularly checking the stock of Autoluce his 328s were selling within hours or within days max !!!!! ( at euro 48000 - 55000 range )

Maybe the market has topped ?

I was in the late 1980s in UK and what I see now there........ is what I remembered was happening then.......... buying "Sunday times" newspaper every Sunday and be noticing the dealers raising the prices of there stock every week and every week.... up to the boom..........

A friend of mine had a perfect 328 gts ( UK Right hand drive ) 6 months ago that he sold ( I was not aware that he was selling the car because I was going to buy it and I don't mind that it was Right hand drive !!! ) for around 38000 pounds and within this 6 months 3 different dealers bought the car between them lol...... up to the time it reached 80000 pounds............ and will be for sale for many months........ unless another more optimistic dealer will buy it to resell it UK pounds 100000 and .99 P next month

I start to remember the old times and how the car market crashed........

Still looking for an excellent 328 gts !!!!!!! but I stopped raising my offers and chasing the market... , this time..... I will sit and wait the price to come back to me lol......

    Regards to all

    Dinos

Several US 328 GTB are on the market and they are all being offered for top dollar. These are low mileage examples but the asking prices show where the market has gone over the last year.

BTW, I purchased my 1987 328 GTB from Motorcars Intl. with around 17,000 miles back in 2007 for $59,000. The prices are going up.

Here in Italy there are several for sale: top condition cars but with much more mileage are at 75-79 K euro (99-104 k USD).

Finally they start to cost MORE or at least the same as that period top condition Porsche 911... :)

Here in Europe nobody wants an US spec car: he is waiting for an USA customer.

That's not far from my house: if any USA enthusiast is interested into that car, i can help to organize a PPI through a Ferrari dealer here (or just give a look to the car by myself).

If you ask any question about it, Alberto, don't forget to ask them for the chassis number! I tried to read it from the picture where we see the odometer, but it is in reflection in the glass and in reverse, so a bit hard....

Yes Alberto, the last five digits of the VIN would be helpful.

BTW, hello Nerofer, I hope things are going well for you. I hope to update the registry soon. Just been busy enjoying the family and the Ferrari. :)

Fine, thanks, Furmano, except that the weather has really been cr**py this summer: its been cold, gray and raining for the whole month of August...and July was not much better.

Brought the GTB to her "every two year" mandatory technical control in August, she went through with flying colors (well, these are not very stringent by the way, but you have to find a place with a lift onto which the car can climb without scratching anything under).
It will be the turn of the GTS in September.

Thank you gadabitibi! I thought I would never buy a yellow car, but the GTB is striking in this color and with the brown/beige interior!

It looks i'm the only one who owns a wingless 328 GTB: was it so uncomon to order the GTB without the rear wing? is there someone else that has a factory wingless 328GTB?

    Alberto,

This is because on this thread you have mainly american owners, and the roof spoiler option on their cars was different than on ours.

All american GTBs (and the GTSs too, for that matter) were delivered from the factory WITH the roof spoiler.
Should you want a car without it, you had to ask your dealer to ask the factory to deliver a special car without the spoiler. So, almost all the american 328 GTBs and GTSs have the roof spoiler.

On the contrary, in Europe, the roof spoiler on the 328 was an option: you had to pay extra if you wanted it, and all cars were delivered WITHOUT the spoiler by the factory, unless the roof spoiler option has been choosen and paid for.
So in Europe you have about half the cars with the spoiler, and the other half without.

Judging just by observation, it seems to me the a bigger number of the very late GTBs were delivered without the rood spoiler, just as if the fashion has been fading and the late owners wanted to go back to the look of the very first 308s.
My GTB, 81085, built on April 5th, 1989 was ordered without the roof spoiler and is still without roof spoiler today.

So be at rest, you're not alone...

Thanks, Bruno. I'm glad you confirm that here it was an option, as i remebered since eighties. It was standard on GTB/GTS turbo, but I did not know on the USA market it was standard too. My 328 GTB is a mid '87, looks unpainted and so i was scared it was removed, as i purchased (and paid...) the car as mint first paint car.

81085 during her "controle technique" three weeks ago: you can see that she has no wing (and the crease line is still not black...)

Yes, Peter, it is an interesting - small - question.
My two cars - 80515, 328 GTS and 81085, 328 GTB are only five weeks apart on the production line; the GTS has the roof spoiler, the GTB does not. I'm happy with that state of things...but usually when owners have a car without the spoiler, they wonder if the car would look better with it, and vice-versa...

From the first time I saw a 328 with the wing I didn't like it. My ex wife has an '89 GTS with the wing...it still makes me cringe.

    No offense to anyone :)

I don't like the wing on a 308, but I like it on a 328. It somehow looks more eighties imho.

As Nerofer, i have one with and one without the rear wing: sometimes i prefer the look with, sometimes without, it depends from the day. :)
