I just read the start of this thread and the above comment is given a lot of weight by what the company spokesman (Jeff) said (my emphasis added).

Quote: We have the capability to make them from start to finish in house. However, if we did that, we wouldn’t be able to meet demand nor would we be able to sell them at a price that keeps our customers happy. End of quote.

If I take that at face value it means they could make them but choose not to as they could not make enough -- or cheaply enough. So now they have stated that they don't make them in-house -- where do they get them from?

I don't think Fabspeed has handled this like they should, BUT I think there is some obvious trolling. To me it is trolling when past customers have an axe to grind for whatever level of wrongdoing, but continue with an intense and passionate vendetta with attitude Fabspeed can do nothing right and machine gun posts to that effect. Many of targeted topics have nothing to do with the user and nothing they are qualified to speak on, thus it is trolling.

Rob, I'll take that a little personally and respond. I'm a prolific poster, on any thread that interests me. I summarily reject that being an avid user of your forums makes me a troll. Secondly, I don't involve myself in just any discussion about Fabspeed that comes along, nor do I chime in when they are advertising in general, EVER, nor bring anything like this up where it doesn't belong. Again, summarily reject the offensive label. No need to skirt the issue(though does seem the thread for skirting issues), if you're saying the shoe fits, point at whom precisely. Thirdly, my comments have been restricted to purely what I do have direct knowledge of from experience, or the evidence at hand which has been a matter of discussion and can only be laid to rest by fabspeed. I think, again as an avid member of and believer in this forum, that we deserve to either have them directly answer, fully disclose or expect the thread to stay active. Calling people trolls for keeping up the pressure without crossing any line whatsoever is offensive. Be direct. Name names. If I be a troll now, guess I deserve my first ban in five years and 14,000 posts. Sounds like you're being pressured again. Why don't you just move this one to silver as well or lock it. If it keeps popping up with fresh posts, I'll do what I do in any other thread that interests me.

Not at all, this thread has been GREAT for business! Look at all the activity it has generated, I have added other exhaust companies as sponsors because of it, and I honestly think it is helping Fabspeed more than hurting it.

People have the right to reverse engineer and try to figure out Fabspeed's business, but doesn't mean Fabspeed has to make it easy for everyone. I think there are things they should have said and shouldn't have said, but a few of these things are honestly none of anyone else's business. If there are any practices that people feel are illegal, then they need to file complaints, sue, and otherwise stop "doing nothing" by just posting on FerrariChat.

The other Ferrari site started almost the exact same time we did, but I currently have 50 times the activity because I have done many things better. I know what they are and continue to do them, but stupid to think I would share my business techniques openly. They are MY competitive advantage. Some win, some lose.

FYI Piper, a user doesn't have to be a complete troll, but can sometimes make trolling posts. I have probably made a couple over the years too. I'm just calling out the trolling posts in this thread.

And I reject again that anything I have posted is trolling. You listed out your reasons a post could be trolling and mine don't fit the criteria. Which means I'm probably just being defensive :)

Edit: and I'm glad if it's been good for business. Truly. Love fchat.

Its simple Fabspeed simply need to disclose what % of each of their products in terms of their Base Cost (not List Price) are not manufactured in the USA

Call me naive, but I always thought that it was because of the fantastic ppl / user base that made fchat that much more fantastic? And not a "business technique"?

I'm not saying I'm one of the fantastic ppl, I'm probably one of the sh*tballs that ppl, particularly the CS crowd, would like to choke to death...

yes it's more the people who make this forum, not some great forum business technique, nor forum code. For crying out loud we barely get enough room for PMs before they are full.

I thought the PM box quota was based on your subscription? (50 PMs with non subscribed, 200 PMs with Silver, and unlimited with Rossa)

how do you think the people get here? why do you think they stay? I didn't throw out a revenue metric, I threw out a traffic metric which speaks for itself.

I have to agree with Rob on this. The structure, the moderators, the rules, etc are what makes this place unique and compels folks to come back. I have been on tons of other car forums and this one is so unique. It creates an environment where the right type of users keep coming back and the knuckleheads eventually get banned or frustrated.

This thread is ridiculous. In the interest of full disclosure, I personally know the owner of Fabspeed and I've been given the full tour of their manufacturing facility in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania. I had them custom fabricate an X pipe for my Audi S8 V10. You can find a video of it on Fabspeed's channel on YouTube if you're interested. There is no question it was made in Fort Washington.

I have also purchased and personally installed their headers and sport exhaust system on my 2002 360 spider. The components are of the highest quality and the installation was quite frankly a breeze. The sound is, in my opinion, much better than Capristo or Tubi, and I kept the factory CATS in place. FWIW, the system has never thrown a CEL. If some or all of the headers/exhaust system was made in Taiwan I don't really care because the quality was excellent, and the results exceeded my objectives.

I also have installed Fabspeed headers on my 1984 Porsche rally car as well as carbon fiber air boxes on my Carrera and Ferrari. My headers were absolutely made by Fabspeed in the US but I suspect the carbon fiber bits were sourced out of the country. Again, I don't care as the quality was excellent and the price was more than reasonable.

Fabspeed has to my knowledge ever denied that some components are made in Asia and their cats are from Germany. I think if you do any research you'll find that some components for Capristo are also made in Asia. The fact remains that Fabspeed's products do what they represent, are high-quality and a good value as far as I'm concerned as a customer and user of their products. I think if all you baiters and trolls out there look in your pockets, you would probably find that your iPhones were also made in Asia and not California. That doesn't make them any less great.

I'm sure what you say is correct and Fabspeed do design and manufacture great products. The discussion in this thread relates to one product - F430 headers.

How would you feel if you had spent time investigating the options for replacing the 'rubbish' OEM F430 headers. Learn't from the trusted source of FChat about Fabspeed as a Forum sponsor and manufacturer of quality products. Gone ahead and fitted Fabspeed 'made in the USA' headers to your prized F430 at a premium, only then to find out they are made in Taiwan by Jim and are available much cheaper elsewhere? No reflection on the product, I'm sure it works well, simply a very misleading sales pitch that means a product is sold at an inflated price.
