360 CS TCU

Quick question. I've been told that a TCU can be flashed to a later model? Can it be flashed to a CS?

If not, will the CS TCU save clutch life with it's smoother shifts?

I have a 2002 - is there something I can do to check to see if I have the latest software (if that's what it is).

Hope this doesn't sound stupid

 

PM Eric355 he can reflash your TCU to CS spec. It will make a huge difference. If you look down the threads he has just done one for one of the Fchatters. Regards Gary.

A 2002 can be reflashed with CS software.
To be sure of the current software in your TCU, you have a couple of options (in an increasing level of difficulty):
- if there is no sticker or hand writting data on the OEM sticker, chance is that you have the OEM software
- have your car connected to a SD2/3, it will tell you which version is inside
- reading of an internal EEPROM would allow the same

197533 and 211023 are the latest TCU references for the 360. They are not before the CS but used during the same period on the 360.

 

Ok. Cool. So the biggest advantage of the CS software is faster shifts?

 

Mainly, yes ... with also, a better (more sporty) clutch management, and very agressive rev matching on downshifts which is a lot of fun.

 

Doesn't it also help with clutch wear?

Your 2000 has a "self adjusting" clutch whereas the later ones can be set with an SD2 which means longer clutch life. The down shifts in Sport on mine are much more fun as you get that "bark" as the CS TCU blips the throttle.

I have a year 2000 modena, but upgraded tcu nr 191701. What is different from mine and the late 211023 ?

Eric- Ferrari never claimed the CS had quicker min shift times than the 360. The factory said the min shift time for both was 150 ms. Same for the F430. The later TCUs have improved algorithms for smoother shifting and starting, and longer clutch life.

Whether it shifts faster at lower throttle settings, I do not know.

 

Don't ever adjust the pressure on the valve body. Lots of expensive bits will break...

 

I can tell a difference in the quickness of shifts at low speeds. I don't no why maybe it's because of the ability to be adjusted. When I'm really on it, both shifted pretty fast.
