Congratulations! Looks like you are doing it in the perfect airplane, too!

Do you have a plan for how you are going to do the hood work?

Good for you! You couldn't have picked a better airplane because it will teach how to use all your senses. Same type airplane that I solo'd 70 years ago but mine was without brakes, radio, or tail wheel and had 10 less hp.

Actually, it's a serious question. My brother had a Cub for his kids to learn to fly in, and the hood work was a big issue. His Cub actually had a turn needle in it, and he wanted them to learn using that, but he couldn't find an examiner who would give the check ride that way.

I believe they ended up finishing in a 172.

Thanks for allt he good thoughts. Wanted to learn to fly since my teens now 50.
Driving the BBi or lotus to the fiels for 30 mins on backroads gets my mind int he rigth type of focus.
I think the goal is to get a maule that way we can go places yet still have taildragger fun.
I guess like cars you need more than one plane, and each one has its pros and cons.

Glad I am doing it abit later in life, because for sure when I was younger I personaly lacked the maturity to make good choices, at elast absed on what i did in cars and on bikes.
