I have bought 2 356's from them - they are a great dealer and very trustworthy in their descriptions. I have worked with both Jeff T and Chris C - both honest and approachable. This one shouldn't last long...

If my me memory serves me correctly I researched that car and the color was a special order non ferrari color and was something like lime green.
I was interested in that car last year, however the prices have now surpassed my budget

In general, does an L-series hold a premium over an M-series of comparable condition and if so, by approx how much? $495k seems awfully high, especially if it's not a super solid Platinum level car. Or is it time to revisit my insurance coverage (yet again)?

Chris at European Collectibles helped me locate my 71 four years ago without anything expected in return.

I especially liked this quote from the ad:

"The esthetic of the GT profiles are far superior to the GTS."

Of course, it would be even better if it were blue, right Freeman? ;)

    Correct :)

Matthias, on the Dino Registry under the chassis number it says dark blue. What was the color according to your records?

I think that an L series is worth approximately 20% more than a comparable M series.

What should the bumpers and column switch look like? Sorry for the question but I don't know L cars well at all but curious to know/learn about this one.

L-Series (and 206GT) have thinner bumpers and don't have the license plate light end cap as an extra piece. They're brazed on smooth then chromed. This example also has a later backup lamp. Should be two smaller rectangular lamps mounted on each rear bumper. The column switch should have a more delicate petal like end black plastic pieces with the column made from white delrin plastic vs black.

Being a 1970 L, this rear bumper may be what they used, being transitioned to latter M & E models. By the way, there is another L model here in Japan (that is more true to original) for sale in comparable value asking.

no, transition was shortly after M-series production (early M-series still had L-series bumper originally)

The column switch in this car is the US version. The Euro version is what Freeman described.

The column switch is of a late model. There is not US version of L series as long as I know.

Jimmy, please include a link to the L-series car for sale in Japan. I'm about to list my car for sale and want to gather some additional data to price my car correctly.

    Thanks,

    Keith

QUOTE: ... I'm about to list my car for sale....

NOT wanting to pry into personal reasons for your potential sale, I am curious if there may be "other" reasons? Do you feel "bubble bursting" or other such description that f-market may have peaked? I am simply trying to get a sense of what other owners are thinking, feeling and things of that sort.

The Car Quest site has an article just listed titled "Sellers Remorse"....I too am "on fence" listing a car for sale, yet I am sure that this article would apply to me, "sorry to see it go".

Please do not feel compelled to answer if you find this offensive in any way.....thanks..

    Keith,

Not sure if this link works, but here it is...

    ucars.carview.yahoo.co.jp/model/ferrari/dino246gt/

The price quoted is around 50m JP yen. That is a little shy of US$500k depending on the exchange rate.
