    Hi all,

I have read many posts about exhaust systems, tubi, capristo etc. I have heard tubi with the fab speed headers and cats and it sounds amazing but it loses the high pitch whine of the 355 in my opinion.

Since I am keeping my factory headers, does any body have a reccomendation for a great sounding exhaust that doesn't drone too bad.

Right now with straight pipe bypass the car sounds amazing from 4000 rpm up but needs a little more low end noise.

When I tie the bypass valve open it is honestly perfect sounding all around but then I get the CEL because the 02's go bannanas with the reversion and the SDLs not to mention the rich fuel odor lol.

As a result, I leave the bypass valve functioning as designed to avoid any problems and error codes.

So, does anybody have a solution to get just a bit more sound without going overboard?

    Thanks

    ///AMG55

Capristo 1, 2, or 3. Supposedly they all sound the same at WOT but at idle 1 is the quietest and 3 is the loudest. I used to have stock headers, hyperflow cats, and cap 3 and the sound was insane. Went to Fabspeed headers and the sound got just a tiny bit deeper, not much though.

Just placed new Fabspeed and it indeed lost that high end Pitch
The Cappy 3 drones from 2500-3500

I hear mixed opinions about the fabspeed merge collector changing the sound, but I think it is evident. No doubt they make a quality replacement header even if the origin is questionable.

The Tubi also drones at the 2000 rpm area, but not to the point of being objectionable.

Honestly, best way to do this is go to an exhaust shop and have them add O2 bungs to your headers right before they Y to the bypass. Then you can run the bypass open or closed and the mixture control will still be correct. This should also be much cheaper than buying a Capristo exhaust.

My 355F1 has factory headers, a Nouvalari exhaust and Hyperflow cats.

If you ignore the appalling video quality but pump up the sound this gives you a small idea of what it sounds like.

I have a tubi exhaust as well as headers and I have never noticed a drone at 2000rpm but then again, I never stop at 2000 rpm long enough to notice I guess.

Thank you all for the educated responses, I was expecting to get flamed in the thread for asking a question that many probably have already researched and asked here.

I think Bob is right that I should move the 02 sensors upstream into the header merge collector. Hopefully the extreme heat isn't going to cause premature wear on the sensor.

Or I will buy another stock exhaust unit and use the plasma cutter and gut the internals to see how that sounds, or plumb the bypass opening separate from the muffler for a direct dump mitigating any reversion issues.

I have no problem buying a capristo, but sometimes I like to try a more custom solution as it is my hobby.

Nouvalari sounds 90% as good as the Capristo for 1/4 of the price...

What exactly is a drone sound?

New OEM headers, hyperflows and tubi here and I cant imagine the car sounding any better than it does. I sure wouldnt want it louder.

I will say that the hyperflows did chnage the sound a bit from the OEM cats. A more audible purr at low rpms.

I believe the best set up is: stock headers, test pipes and capristo level 2. :D

The new style Tubi Evo exhaust is basically an exact copy of the Carpristo and sounds just as good.
