I believe the car came with no radio from the factory, and it was up to the purchaser to install one from the dealer or on their own. I found a 1978 blaupunkt am-fm stereo radio with an original manual on line, though a cassette one is very difficult to find. I believe the BBi model did come with a radio that had a Ferrari emblem, which is also difficult to find.

The modified 512 BB went for $206,000, the 512 BBi went for $304,000, and the 365 GT4 BB went for $340,000 at the London RM auction.

Please keep the leads coming. Thanks to all of you helping me. The support from the Ferrari community helps me keep going. I am bound and determined to purchase a 512 BB. I just need to be patient and one will come around for me at my price.

Does anyone know anything about an auction house in the UK called Coys? They have a 512 coming up for auction.

"...need to be patient and one will come around for me at my price." Being patient is tough in a market like this. Just wait three months and see where prices are then. You'll wish you pulled the trigger now. I went through the same thing when I bought my car. Paid way more than I thought I would. However, car is now worth way more than I paid for it.

There is a yellow one in Canada for sale, at around the same number, the engine has been totally built, it's a nice car, IMO.

The price is in that same range, IIRC.
Can you find the ad in our FerrariAds???

The later cars had a Ferrari logo head unit AND equalizer, you are correct they are rare units to find now.

The one at San Francisco Sports Cars is a fuel injected version. but thanks for the update. That is the kind of quick on the spot information I need to pick one up.

allan may be referring to the yellow bb at Copley. that car seems to show w/ bbi / metric wheels.

I just noticed that Copley dropped the price from $325,000 to $295,000. I think I will give them a call. They sent me a ton of pictures but none from the engine bay. Their new price is closer to where I want to be.

    Good day Glabbe,

Did you buy the BB? I ask, as Copley no longer has the car listed. If so, congrats to you!

    Cheers,

    Sam

I did not buy the 512 at Copley's. That was a beautiful car. The yellow really pops. I am negotiating a deal on a Euro-spec 512 that I hope I can conclude by the end of the week. It has been a wild ride but by being patient I hope I am going to get an excellent car at a reasonable price.

Thanks Sam, I will. The 1977 Ferrari 512 BB is back up on their list. I am not sure if they received an offer and it went bad or if it was just a mistake taking the listing down. But as I said before that car really pops.

Good luck in your negotiation. I think a sub $300 k BB will be well bought.

    I drove them all.
IMO the Carbed 512 was the best of the lot, yes over the 365, for what I was looking for.
Thats what I ended up with. I'd say it was a 8 out of 10
Passed over BBi's that were 9 to 10's to get it.
But should have bought the 365BB that was a 4 or 5 for $65K cash in hand.
Next life time I'll have it all figured out :D
