What Kyle Busch did in the truck series was far far worse, as it was blatantly intentional, clearly recorded complete with radio chatter, and over nothing. Kyle still has sponsorship, but had a rocky road. Providing there are no criminal charges, Tony will probably continue to race should he so desire. There is not sufficient public evidence for a large amount of people to conclusively know that Tony intentionally ran Ward over, and unless there is, it won't hurt sponsors in many different segments.
Oh I dunno, maybe Hillenbrand Industries will step up for him, and they could run subsidiary Batesville Casket as the trunk lid logo... *rim shot*
the investigation continues on. the initial speak was it could take two weeks to investigate. there is silence now...has the ward family gone silent for a reason? clearly nascar has begun to rally around TS but what is happening behind the scenes? do you think there is a settlement that is happening now? is it possible that additional race "go-pro" footage was confiscated and being reviewed? where does this go next?
if there were no justification, I assure you we would have heard that publically...it would seem that so far, with no current public announcement that the case is still under review. so while you may be correct...it would seem that they are still working. you did not answer the items about any settlement outside...you seem to have an inside track on this one. love to know your thoughts?
btw, I will be at my house in lake norman tomorrow. I will get a chance to hear the thinking from some nascar friends. It will be interesting to hear their impressions.
No inside track Peter just personal opinion and this IS a black and white situation, Ward caused his own death and Stewart should hold no civil liability for Wards ignorance. Do I hate that a person died, yes, but I do not blame someone else for the other persons actions. That may sound cold hearted but I am a realist.
so you believe there is no settlement in the works? no reason for the ward family's silence? I agree that there is likely no criminal case and if there were...I would be shocked.
There is no justification to even consider a settlement, that's what I am saying. Should Tony pay for their son's ignorance? Maybe they are grieving in their own way? Maybe they are bigger people than the internet portrays them to be and not sue happy? Do they really have a case? I am not even remotely trying to be an a$$ Peter, I am just voicing my opinion.
I would like to agree with Texas, but the video that is out in public only shows 5 frames of Tony's car before the collision, not really enough to be black and white. While it does show there is a lot of misinterpretations of what happened, it doesn't show Tony's action's as he drove through the corner, which would make it more black and white. Unless such were out there, it would always have some shades of gray.
I just think it is black and white in that I do not believe Tony deliberately hit Ward. Either way it was a hugely tragic incident and I pray it never happens again.
I agree that TS did not deliberately hit Ward. However, he did hit him. And, there is the possibility that it was an intentional brush-back gone wrong. That would make him at least partially responsible. I also agree this was avoidable and unnecessary. CW
every other driver that passes ward has their car straight and composed. TS is the only car that I saw that was a bit sideways. that alone keeps it from being black and white.
It sure was. Stay in your car. Ward put everyone a risk by getting out of his car. It sure as crap was avoidable. Yet none of those apply in TS's situation the avoidable and unnecessary that you keep pointing out all falls on Ward for creating this incident. His emotions got the best of him. And like most kids of today, they fly off the handle if stuff is not going exactly their way. You want to point fingers still? Point them at the parents for raising a hot headed kid who couldn't keep control of his anger. You can keep looking for people to blame, but it's clearly an accident, that would have been avoided by TS if possible. The only reason would be your a lawyer trying to justify the situation to prosecute TS. And until the conspiracy theorist can present actual evidence that TS maliciously ran this kid down, just keep quiet till you do.
... race tracks are dumps. Encountering the same turn, over, and over, and over, it's only a mere matter of time before most any garden variety idiot gets it right. Most people fashioning themselves as circuit drivers, they aren't out there for the joy of driving. They're out there aching for conflict, relieving pent-up anxiety, lapping the circuit lying in wait, for the first opportunity to bump somebody off; use somebody for traction. In organized motor sport, you may total a fellow competitor's car, and not have to pay for it. No financial responsibility in organized motor sport, so long as you're on the race track, there is nothing to keep you from nerfing a fellow competitor straight into the Armco, with little to no consequence to yourself, whatsoever. Most recent example, our hero Tony Stewart is proof positive that, once the green flag waives not only may you murder and pillage asunder in organized motor sport, you are welcomed to back over and finish the job, even a under caution flag condition. Then thereafter, if somehow it makes the 6:00 news, all you have to do is, remember the handy-dandy cliches of organized motor sport. Works like a charm, all you have to say is, "that's racing," and "words are not enough to express the sorrow..." [SNIP] before you go run off and hide, and they'll let you off the hook, every time -- asj.
Really? I thought *all* his posts have been *way* "out there", and that's being polite! At least the ones in this thread, which he seems particularly fond of for some reason. Although, he did bounce similar nonsense into the F1 section a while back and when I called him on it didn't receive any response of course. Another guy safely on ignore now. Cheers, Ian
the mods *REALLY* need to ban him. He's not made a single positive post, he's just trolling, wasting his summer until he goes to school.
