Gorgeous car. Based on the sales over the last 12 months this seems like a bargain.

I'm not up to speed on classic Porsches, but is the asking price really $440,000 USD or am I reading the ad on the website wrong?

If that ain't a typo I surely missed the boat on a '69 911T for 10k back in 1991. And to think I walked because he wouldn't budge off 10k

    But, maybe it's 440k schillings.?

So let me be play the devils advocate just for fun.
What makes first paint so special, to justify such a price?? Please explain to all of us as from what I know paint and all other materials used originally on this car are subject to the same laws of physics and chemistry as all other products so it will undoubtedly be worn, oxidised probably rusty in places where chips occured, not to mention the state of nearly 50 year old mechanicals subjected to the same elements/wear........

Yes and so? You see you still didn't really answer my question, why is it actually better or if you like desirable to justify such a huge price?......
The fact is of course that...it isn't and really shouldn't justify such a huge price over a very well done recent restoration. By any comparative objective standard more modern paint jobs are miles better than what they were 50 years ago. It's just this notional, very nebulous, concept that "collectors" spew out and regurgitate constantly that somehow original paint, even a 50 years old one with all its irregularities, warts and chips and all, has this superior, charming, mystical or even "mythical" quality over any great more recent restoration paint job.
That my friends is the weird, crazy, and utterly nutty world of the "collector".......

Hagerty shows these at about $215K. And that's after the crazy spike over the last 18-24 months.

I believe their data to be pretty good, after all, they are insuring these vehicles, right?

So what makes an original paint car worth 2X what a concours winning restored car? I dunno, guess we wait and see if there are bites at $440K.

There are many sales of 1967 911Ses in the high $300s to lower $400s. The most desirable colors are orange (like this one) and slate grey.

Hagerty's data will reflect the most recent sales when they update their reporting in the next 90 days or less (I was told)

Very nice car, but not for me at that number.

So a few years ago, you could have bought a 904 for around $900,000.00 +/- $75,000.00 and now a 1960s 911 with 100,000 miles is half the price?

    Woulda, coulda, shoulda....

440K for a car that is essentially a Volkswagen bug.

Delusions of grandeur is a phrase that comes to mind. If he gets it, it would be miraculous.
