Still no actual test # for the LF?
Care to share pics of this most enjoyable car you have ever driven??? I'd love to see them. Also, if I'm not mistaken, you have not yet taken delivery of your 918. Therefore, how can you be so sure that you will not become more enamored by the 918(which I would also love to see pics of once you take delivery) once you get more seat time behind the wheel of the 918. Your lack of objectivity between the two cars(of which you own/will own both) puzzles me. If I were you, I would refrain from further comparisons between the two cars before you have them both in your possession and can objectively compare them back-to-back with adequate seat time. Otherwise, you run the risk of sounding like an ordinary McLaren shill. You are very lucky to own both of these awesome machines...please allow us to live vicariously through you by providing us with some pics!!!
So I searched for Porsche pyjamas in the p1s browser and this came up Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice post Driftwithme! Any word from the "insiders" about all the times that were going to be published last week yet? I think the point of the 918 recall is that it has had one, the P1 hasn't (as of yet, it may do in future). So the better built, superior quality, of the Porsche is in fact (so far) worse on the current evidence.
That has to be one of the most stupid comments I've read in this thread, and that's saying something. Some of you idiots are going above and beyond.
They must put that in the brochure. USP: The most enjoyable car driftwithme has driven as of September the 10th 2014.
Didn't you see the absolute record of the non WS 918 at VIR? I posted it somewhere in this mess here...
I saw a LaFerrari yesterday in Central London out front of a hotel. I have to say the car is just awesome in person. I thought in the photos it was only "meh" but in person it's incredibly impressive.
I did, care to point out the P1 time on the list? It was said that last week EVO, and others, would publish the times that showed the 918 was faster than the P1. Where are they?
Not really, we (the readers of this thread) are told regularly that the 918 is superior to the P1 in all ways. It is faster, better built and attracts a better quality of gold digger. Now, however, we have a story that shows that (at least for now) the design and build of the 918 is not up to the job (a bit like some engines they made) it was designed for. So based on this we can say that the P1 currently appears to better made than the 918. Unless of course there are P1 recalls that have been carried out, if there have been then please let me have a link.
It seems like everyone who ordered one said it... Jay Leno : I just can't stop driving it (P1). Passion and love drive Jay Leno to fill a 130-car garage - LA Times Billionaire car collector Paul Bailey who has Enzo etc. : P1 is the best car I own. Businessman takes his new McLaren P1 supercar for a drive down Deansgate - Manchester Evening News To guys here like Mbn, MarkNC.
It seems like we are all just McLaren fanboys then. Seriously, as a Porsche owner I don't get this fanboyism that's infecting the members on this board. A great car is a great car regardless of the badge. I have a Carrera gt that I love to drive and look forward to receiving the 918. I don't have anything against Porsche, unlike some people here who seem to have a big problem with Mclaren
Each manufacturer has approached, built, delivered and marketed their car in a different way. I think this ethos has trickled down to the owners and enthusiasts. For someone who is argumentative it is easy to hate on McLaren because they are cocky and haven't let themselves get mired down in a fight. They don't like being ignored. Porsche has from day 1 sold this car as the end-all-be-all greatest technological achievement for the environment and performance etc. They come off as having the biggest chip on their shoulder with the most to prove. Ours is the best because... McLaren built a driver-focused car with all the technical bits and simply presented it to the world. Of course ours is the best. Ferrari spit out a car, has nothing to prove, and could care less about proving it. This car, you buy. Porsche presented its evidence and pled its case. McLaren submitted its car as evidence but did not respond to any of the allegations. Porsche has submitted new evidence and continues to appeal and plead its case. Ferrari never set foot in the courtroom and ignores all subpoenas.
well as i see u cant talk like an adult! your'e not suppose to hold my hand and u can't cuz its so dangerous for u :| and based on your answers u actually said that "no one can beat 918", there's no square peg but .. : ) you need to an upgrade not an "update", just open your eyes. i'll never discussion with someone like u cuz u first need to learn how to "talk right" with someone else, then u can prepare to comment about the cars! your'e the one who need to read up and experience more cuz you talk like an idiot with "crapistic" ears. (if we were face to face, you couldn't talk like this ..i can guarantee that! +1
what about LaFerrari? it seems well balanced, i think it can be head to head with P1. its so insterenting to see this battle in the circuit^
I havnt driven it, but from owners I know its one hell of a car. The thing is all of them will be very close in performance and timings, and different tracks will suit different cars better.
LaFerrari vs McLaren P1 vs Porsche 918 Spyder | - GVE Luxury Vehicles London All three have massively powerful brakes, but those of the P1 and LaFerrari definitely have more feel than the 918’s, especially at low speed. The Porsche feels heavier on its feet than the others generally, and from memory it understeers a touch more when you push it hard, again almost certainly the result of it weighing a good 200kg more than the P1 and around 250kg more than LaFerrari. Having said that, the P1 definitely feels stiffer and generates less roll than the LaFerrari, even in its most comfortable setting – but it also feels more refined somehow than the 918, which has the noisiest drive-train of the three.
yup, i heard that to. u know it can reach from 0 to 300 km in 15 seconds! and i think LaFerrari has one the best noise ever^ take a look ~> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTjzmphhePU
If I may make one observation (inline with my earlier comments) and I hope that this helps more than anything else. -- The article that you have cited (from some UK luxury dealership site rather than the original URL) dates back many months (to May, 3rd) when it was first published in the 'Autocar magazine': Ferrari LaFerrari vs McLaren P1 vs Porsche 918 Spyder | Autocar this does not make it necessarily invalid but it does NOT represent any thus far unheard point of view or contains any new data. Indeed, Steve Sutcliffe's view (with the exception of the P1) is largely based on first drive impressions of the LaF and the 918 and lacks the experience of the considerably more extensive tests conducted by EVO magazine & the Top Gear magazine, for example, of the P1 & 918 and limits his view being anything other than "initial thoughts" as he states himself.
Its just that the fact that the p1 blew everyones mind away from the first time got me thinking; What will the reviews be like if/when the p1 gets a factory upgrade?
I have read many posts on this thread (in particular). I am a car fan originally, a real rev head by birth and choice. In initial readings I would have liked to buy in order F70 P1 918 but given that you had to be invited to buy the former 2 and can still buy the latter, I can only buy a 918 Spyder. Knowing a few owners of the P1, 1 guy owns a 918 as well can only add that the easiest car to improve performance on over time will be the P1 because it is boosted. At this time I own a Turbo S, a BMW and have owned a LOT of cars in my history including Lotus, MGB, Porkers, Bimmers, Aussie and Jap stuff. All of the 3 hypercars mentioned here are stupendous. Porsche had 50 engineers, one of which is a close friend working on the 918 project for 5 years or so, especially the tricky application of electric motor drives etc. IMHO te only mistake any of the companies have made is from Porsche in limiting top speed by removing the front drive above 265 kmh (?). Price wise one can still buy a 918 base with some mods for sub US$900k or I can beg a P1 owner to sell me his RHD for 1.2 Million quid upwards (US$1.9M) and higher for the Ferrari.. outside guys like MarkNC and a few others who own a lot of uber marques my decision will boil down to whether I want to blow $900k on a 918 or whether I buy 650S and have someone mess with the tuning and also build my Porsche to P1 speeds and then I can also maybe add the new turbo F458 if and when it is released. Bloody exciting times to have some loot and be a car lover
Why/How would you 'build your Porsche to P1 speeds', when the 918 is already faster than the P1 in practically every area? And even if it was close, or a bit faster in speed, the P1 is certainly wouldn't be fast enough (over the 918) for that statement to even be made, especially at additional cost. It would be a waste (of time, effort and money). I tell you, all these new, latent, first time posters popping up out the woodwork?? SMH/Lol
