Mark, you have an amazing collection of cars as well. And the fact that you own both brands of the cars we are all talking about in this form makes your point stronger than most others. I have a lot of respect for the McLaren. If I didn't have such a great relationship with my Ferrari dealer I may have gone over to the other side and purchased a McLaren as well. I own a 2011 GT3 RS, 2014 458 spider, 2015 Speicale, and my airport car is a Mercedes ML 63 chipped to 640 hp. I love great cars from any brand... I am pleased to hear that the McLaren is so entertaining to drive considering that it has a turbocharged motor. It only leads me to believe that Ferrari will be able to create a similar car, as engaging, with their new turbo motor. And the world turns.
Thank you so much brother. Very blessed. I just love cars! Also my old Ford isn't too bad either. Cheers. Image Unavailable, Please Login
To be honest, I have depressions after seeing all your beautiful super car collections! Congrats to all of you! and also nice to read that there isn't only one "religion" and not only one truth. MarkNC; I'm very interested in your track experiences with the 650S, please give us your feedback, would be glad.
Have to keep em clean. I have OCD with my cars. I have gotten better, but I still clean and polish quite often. Love to look at them as much as drive them. Here is one of my Mucielago, one of my favorite cars! Image Unavailable, Please Login
I suspect those were the earlier 458s 2010s and 2011s. Ferrari did address the transmission issue on the 458 and later models have been more reliable.
Both great cars and I'm going to add a 650S soon to my garage, I found it strange some say it's not a track car ? I drove the hell out of my 2013 12C with temperature ranging from 36C to 42C !!! I track my cars on track days too never experienced such overheat. Even my P1 handled heat extremely well ! Now performance wise I guess any FI engine will experience some heat soak to a point but no overheating on my track experience. A 458 Speciale will be a great beautiful alternative if someone prefer an NA. Mbn
We get 45C+ even 50C in the middle east. May be that breaks the back of the mclarens. TPMS has shown me tires temperatures of 80+C on front tires here.
Just recieve a call from my dealer. They have just one slot for the 458 Speciale SPIDER.They can wait for me two weeks till I decide. Now the question is 650S Spider or the 458SS... In my country the situation about the depreciaton is very different..Mclaren cars do not fall the price as much as the USA prices at all... a 12C for example is similar in terms of price to a 458 in similar conditions Both cars(650S Spider and 458SS) cost around 400.000 USD with options. Any news I will write here
At 400,000 USD, don't get either. Bad deals. These cars aren't worth quite that much. 300,000 USD tops IMO. If you want to throw money the speciale will be better. This is a ferrari forum.
650S with fake plastic air intakes, this is my choice! 400,000 USD? Shoot up and take my money! Image Unavailable, Please Login
That Old Ford maybe my Favorite Car of the Bunch! You Buddy have great taste, along with MarkNC. Love it!
Dude, you have way too much time The intake is real, although not where you highlighted. Are you saying the 458 does not use plastic bits and covers ? It's not like the faux vents you find on Merc's, Bimmers and Dodge's. MB
Love the color!! PS It really freaks me out and disappoints me that the back of the 650S is identical to the MP4's..
I've been trying to get interested in a 650S, but I just can't get excited for some reason. When I see and hear a Speciale the hair on the back of my neck stands up! Even though the 650S is a fantastic car it just doesn't make me smile the way a Speciale does.
I believe the correct term is 12C, not MP4 I have driven the 12C before and loved it, but not as much as a 458. I can imagine how much better the 650S would be! I would love to add a 650S to my collection. They are both great cars!
I've had all 4 cars; 2012 italia, 2013 italia spyder, 2012 12c and now 2014 12c spyder . until recently I always had 1 mclaren and 1 458 at the same time. I put about 7000 miles on each car except the italia spyder. I did not like the cowl shake in that car. I found the 12c to be a better all-around car in most every way. When I went into the garage I found myself always gravitating to the mclaren so I sold the 458 spyder and don't miss it one bit. The 12c has a flat plane crank engine, and without a muffler it really screams at high rpm. I'd venture to say if you heard a sound clip most ppl would probably think they are listening to a Ferrari. The sound is not as good as the 458, but its pretty good. As far as reliability is concerned I've had 0 issues with the 12c's. My 2012 italia went through TWO transmissions. The italia spyder had an e-diff failure (all covered under warranty).
Well, you can call it either. Short for MP4-12C. Kinda like MP4. But 12C works. Love the car. Mine is at dealer getting some carbon fiber bits and P13 upgrade. Can't wait to get my MP4-12c back.
Thanks buddy. I love your 458 and MP4 buddy! We have similar taste in cars for sure. I have to say my old Ford is one my favorites. Cheers.
So you could buy one of the limited (only 458) 458 Speciale Spider by one side or one of the standard 650S that sure will be soon changed again since the new Ferrari 458 turbo will push McLaren to make something new. I would have no doubts and you know me and what I mean...
