Fantasy Junction seems to have these on a relatively regular basis. Always look like a relative bargain to me compared to contemporary Ferraris. Have heard they are a handful though I have no first hand knowledge.

monsters. very dangerous cars and need to be well looked after as parts will fatigue.

be careful and remember these were widow makers then...and remain so now.

john burke is a great one to ask about an M8. he is on this site "jburke".

I hope you are thin. Anyone 180 or more would be a tight fit, and you can't put a wider seat because of the center bulkhead. If you want more info on driving a M8F, give a ring to Chris Mcallister in Indy. He ownes Denny Hulme's 1971 M8F.

I love seeing these cars run at Road America during the Brian Redman vintage events!

    here ya go Hubbster :)

    Can-Am Cars | Available Cars

also, whatever happened to that half assed plan to start a "new" Can Am series using replica cars a few years back? AFAIK it went nowhere, but they built some cars...those might be the ones to have. new with some safety concessions, but the flavor of the old cars.

Yeah they sound pretty mean and when they came through Canada Corner at RA, you knew what was up!

This would be a fun program to get involved with. Richard N & I had 'the talk' but there was no way I could swing this. ...unless I nail some serious sponsorship! A few more I took....

any idea what happened to those cars?

even without the merger (and resulting lack of available track time for that series), I don't think that series was going anywhere anyhow. but they'd be great if they were allowed into existing vintage racing classes.

Man, they're some *great* looking cars!

Saw the originals when they came to Silverstone years back; What a sound too!

Would certainly make an effort to see these new ones if they can get it going. Same kind of "soul", but not the widow makers of yore. Very cool!

Anyone know if it's still 'alive'?

    Cheers,
    Ian

Actually they did run with one of the classes last year here during the HAWK vintage festival. The 6 that where completed (to my knowledge at least) are back in Cali. I'll give Richard a call and see whats up!

that's kinda the polar opposite of what he's looking to do.

also I doubt HPD is going to sell those to someone who isn't going to campaign it in a full season of IMSA or WEC, ELMS, etc.

The 2014 open P2 cars are for sale, very fast, safe and Can Am like.

Another issue is that you can get great tires for these.

Never heard of a CanAm car having "programming issues". :)

The open P2 cars are quick, but come with high corner speed. CanAm cars are low corner speed, high straight line speed. Get it pointed straight and pull the trigger....

    Buy it, I would !!!!!!

You are a smart guy and the danger level is irrelevant simply because you will not be pushing the cars limits. I honestly believe you have the chance of adding a rare race car to your collection.
