My last 355 had the shields and the inbound one doesn't.
My question is is it correct to put shields on fenders that don't have the recessed shield area?

The purists will say no. I lean towards the purist side of the spectrum but I personally am ok with any mods as long as they are fully reversible.

That said I vote yes for shields if you like the look but only high quality ones like yoshi (reputed) or the ones sold by a member on here (just got mine yesterday)

I vote no. These cars are already WAY overbadged in my opinion. Nose badge, front & rear grill cavillinos are enough... but that's just me.

On most Ferraris, in most colors, I find the shields distracting. They interfere with the lines, IMO. (I could never spec them on a black 458, for example, and black is the color that makes "it" move . . .)

I put them on my car but am thinking of removing them. I think I caught up in the whole thing in the beginning and the lack of indents is starting to bother me.

I am not committed to removing them but I am conflicted about them.

I hear you...they look best on the indents for sure.......I think they stick out to far on the standard fender. I remember my micro fibre towels always getting snagged LOL

I used to have shields for several years, as the Yoshi's came on the car. I have had them removed about 6 months ago for a magazine shoot where they wanted the car as Factory stock as possible. I have since,, not replaced the shields nor my Hill Engineering Challenge Tow hook, as I think the clean look looks quite nice now. It's like getting a new pair of shoes...sometimes your taste changes. It's all a personal preference, really.

No, when factory, they are sunk in the fenders.....when added, they look like some after thought stick on. Kinda like a buick with some fake fender vents. Plus your pole makes no sense shields = yes or shields yes.

All of the factory cars with the shields had recessed fenders. So it is not factory correct, no.

As to whether you should do it it's up to you. If you like the way they look, go for it.

Personally, I don't like them on street cars. If the car had them from the factory pre-'97 or is a '97 up that was raced and/or had significant factory performance modifications like fiorano pack 355's, hgtc equipped 575/612/599's, the v8 specials (CS, Scud, Speciale) or the supercars then I also think they belong. Otherwise, you're a poser. JMO and why my car has none and likely won't ever have them, but do what makes you happy.

I just got some fishing line from a buddy so I can remove mine - only to refit. I have Yoshi shields and they are great but did not fit the fender well. I fit them better but still not perfect. I bought good 3M double sided tape (expense) and will remove, refit and reinstall.

If the car originally came with them, I would say yes. If it didn't, I wouldn't put them on. I don't think it adds or detracts from the car. In the end, it doesn't matter what everybody else's opinions are, do what you like.

I am not in favor of shields unless its a racing/special production car ala LaFerrari. I think it looks classier without the shields...

Exactly what I said. Factory are sunk in (recessed). Otherwise they look like a cheap stick on.

I'm like you bob right now though I still like them maybe because my car is black.
Ps Dave love your shields as well.

Maybe in future I will take them off. Who knows I do not think it changes anything kinda like my lightly tinted windows and clear front turn signals and my yet to be put on euro turn lights below the shields.

No shields for me ...... lighter, cleaner looking, more aerodynamic and fewer crevices for un-wipe-able wax to hide .....
