Hey guys, I wanted to pull my recently acquired 1999 355 F1 out of the garage to take a few pics, but I can't get it to start. Car has a new battery and all dash lights, interior light and chiming sound happen when I put key in ignition. I am pressing the button on the key fob to deactivate alarm, but when I try to start the car, nothing happens. No clicking sound that would be consistent with a dead battery. It has been about 8 years since I have had a Ferrari with this crazy key fob alarm system. I feel like I am doing one simple thing wrong rather than the battery being dead. Any pointers out there? Thanks in advance!!! Rob
IIRC, the driver's door and bonnet can be open when starting. If you are in gear and open the door or bonnet, the system goes into neutral.
Dave, Thanks for the help. I turns out the tranny was in 1st gear and when I was trying to put it into N by pulling both paddles, I wasn't pushing on the brake pedal hard enough to get the tranny to respond. And yes, for the record, I do feel like a great big huge ***ing moron!!!! Thanks dude. Rob
You are welcome and glad it was nothing major. Don't feel bad at all. My buddies bust my balls all the time how they "are going to steal my car". I just toss them the keys and say "Go for it - if you can get it started, it's yours"
