Now I certainly understand why it looks that way. My first impression was that it's very LMP1-ish, and looks very slippery, very different than the modern trio of hypercars.

Our biggest challenge was designing something that works like an LMP1 within the GT rules that still looks good/not overly Hyper Technical. I'm really pleased with how it's coming out and think the designers did a great job with a very difficult task. I also think they were able to keep it curvy which I like a lot.

La Ferrari's designers started in this direction with their front fenders and the back of P1 heads in this direction as well but we took this idea a lot further. The other issue is frontal area. The extremely reduced LMP1 Cockpits tear drop shaped are very efficient and we go a lot closer to that then these three which reduces frontal area as well. Interestingly The Enzo's nose was ahead of it's time in that it brought these aero dynamic theories to GT although I think Luca was inspired by F1 noses whereas we're inspired by LMP 1 noses.

Still a comfortably packaged 2 seater with enough lateral head swing though?

Glad you guys didn't get the inspiration from this year's F1 noses. Haha

Seems there is no rearward visibility, a video camera perhaps?

I assumed the road legal part will be European regulations and not North America? 2 different ride height, race trim and road trim?

The "problem" in fairness that Manufactures have is that they have to build cockpits able to fit 2 250lb guys. If you narrow the seats driver 200lb/passenger 180lb push both to the centerline by narrowing distance between. (No central shifter), recline seat back, raise foot well, lower butt, raise legs (LMP 1 seating position) you can have a much narrower tear drop GT cockpit. Seating is different but still comfortable. You also fix seat and move pedals and wheel for different sized drivers. This has to be done with crash testing requirements in mind but it can be done.

Our tub passed crash testing like this including all head requirements. The crash testing is interesting. It makes you a HANS believer.

Two side mirrors and one central rearview camera.

Initially Europe/Mideast/ Asia road legal. Fully emissions/safety compliant. We will then meet with EPA and DOT and see if we can be US Show and Display legal.

At The Ring you race at about 4.5 inches so adjusting for road or lower for Le Mans isn't an issue and easily done.

Car passed crash testing with a removable roll cage so owner can remove it for the road. Race wing and road wing interchangeable as is race/road splitter. More luxurious road seats interchangeable with race seats. Race engine and straight cut box interchangeable with road engine and helicodal road gears. Road wheels and tires have lower street turning ratio and raise ride height.

Audi is being outgunned for pure speed by Toyota.

The GTR is slower than a 458 in most tracks.

latest Toyota TS040 is an incredible ~1000hp race car...and it's also AWD (awesome sounding too, unlike the oil cookers). The closest in concept to 918 Spyder...more so than Porsche's own 919 LMP1 (which uses turbo V4). Both 918 and TS040 (tightly restricted ~550hp petrol engine + ~450hp from e-motors) using wicked V8's augmented by e-motor with an additional e-motor on the front axle. Should've won 24hrs...sometimes it's the little things that can knock you out of the race. So close but yet so far away.

Heavier, built for different segment, GTR is on par with 458's around race tracks, particularly 600hp vs 600hp models.

They are state of the art CF manufactures and are doing a great job for us to our designs.

A lot of Motorsports constructors use them including afaik F1 teams.

The key is finding top suppliers. Like all things there is a big difference in "Carbon Fiber" and the grade there of.

McLaren paying for your plane ticket again to Geneva next year? Hopefully they will so you can get a good look at what's going to stomp them at the 24 next year and blog about what a POS it is and how great McLaren's are.

No - I'm pretty confident that was a one-shot deal for the initial P1 reveal, and it was Paris not Geneva. Still very pleased to have had the opportunity but it has never influenced my comments.

I wasn't being facetious either - really did like that Mansory RR and the plate was an awesome touch. Also like the Vincero Veyron they made - it is extremely well done. If you thought I was mocking Mansory you were confused.
