The white header on F1 cars are ceramic coated, is not paint, they are not shinny and is very rough in texture. I guess you can apply it to calipers too, since matte paint is trendy now a days.

I'm real old. Thinking 156, 312's. Porcelain was not available, ceramics far later. Hi temp white paint still worked ok for years. Really hate matte, last week. I didn't order painted calipers on Spec, and they look nice.

Picked this one up today. Amazing how much sharper it is than the 458. It seems that the exhaust note is a lot different as well and not quite as loud as the 2010 458 I traded in. Hopefully this will improve a bit with some more miles.

White is gorgeous! Similar to mine. I agree that the exhaust is too quite and less loud than the Italia.

I plan on switching out the cats or testing bypass pipes.

Tonza is that the NART stripe on your car? Appears as almost a single blue stripe down the middle...

I just got a quote from my dealer for $30k for a flat french blue out of range color. Any idea what others have been quoted for similar requests? Seems excessive, if its not metallic or special.

    Thanks for your input.

Yes. It's the regular Nart stripe. Because car is white, turns out as single blue stripe down middle. Calipers are blue also, which really pulls it together nicely.

Sounds like BS. I know of a 458S locally that has white paint on the calipers (albeit in the Italian flag tricolour scheme).

I was expecting a loud Scuderia-like sound and flames while shifting like the Scuderia did.
Sadly, they restricted the exhaust/noise on the Speciale to meet the FIA track standards. I'm hoping to see another exhaust option in the Ferrari Ginuwine section soon, like they are offering for the Italia. Many customers are quite dissapointed by the sound compared to the actual 458. It would also have been a nice option, to have a better audio system availabe for the car. Yes, it is a track tool which has to be as light as possible - but I'd rather play music from my iphone while driving than having my ears killed by the factory speakers.

Agree with all of that however aftermarket in both cases will take it to extreems no factory would allow. It's the way.

Yep. Trying to reserve judgment on exhaust, but my initial thought is it sucks. I have a capristo x-pipe remote valve on my r8 v10 and it is awesome. Not sure what best option on speciale is, but whatever I get I would want it to be 100% reversible for resale.

Unfortunately, I think it definitely is a necessary modification, which is a surprise to me because ordinarily Ferrari exhaust is awesome.

Don't get me started on the silly "NOs" I have gotten. I wanted to do diamond stitch on rear wall of 458 Italia and then spider. ONLY way they will do this is if you get full alcantara carpets, do sills as well in diamond stitch and only then will they do back wall. You can have this all for the low, low price of $14,000 US. They will do seats, headliner, door panels in diamond stitch on leather or alcantara. Why they say no to back wall is absurd!

    PS Great photo/great car!
