Who are you? Your 39 posts have failed to make any impression on me thus far but after a quick scan it's clear why you're so upset:

I can't take you seriously now, dry your eyes and jog on.

I suspect 918 P1 and LaF owners believe there is more to life than just a common irrelevant drag race...

It occurs to me, having read most of this thread that the purchasers of McLaren P1's must not only get told the Nurburgring lap time upon purchase but must also get told to post here, within the 600 odd pages there are not too many pages when someone posts claiming to own or be about to own a McLaren P1. And this has created the impression for me at least that two things have occurred.

1 - McLaren have created a totally ridiculous marketing campaign whereby they took the car to the nurburgring and set a lap time but wouldn't tell anyone, except a few hundred people that post on Ferrarichat, and then kind of claim it isn't important. OK, lets believe that is what happened and they were well under the Porsche time and all of the other fan boy claims, why do it that way, if they really didn't care what people thought, then why go to the Ring in the first place, surely they could have either not gone to the Ring, gone and said we don't care what the time is (and shown it by always pitting at the end of the lap) OR JUST PUBLISHED THE TIME.......

2 - Considering the number of people claiming P1 ownership, do they also tell all owners to post here?

I actually think a lot of the fan boys are fake from all sides but at least most admit they don't own a P1, La Ferrari or 918. I certainly don't and will never pretend otherwise. A few are absolutely kosher posters such as Jim G but why do so many posters feel that their fan boy status needs to extend to claims of ownership amongst all of the BS. My knowledge of these cars does not extend beyond this thread and several car magazine articles and they give a fairly good idea of the strengths and weaknesses of the three supercars. Yet on this thread there are people claiming they would buy the P1 over the 918 as a daily driver because it would be better as such than the 918. Now that simply isn't credible IMO, especially when every road tester has commended the Porsche for its ability to be used every day..........

All in all the comments on this thread sometimes serve only to cheapen the experience of all of these cars (especially the McLaren) imo whereas if there really was decent discussion all three would seem comparably brilliant with each having little edges here or there. I want to say big ups to Whoopsy for posting what he did and explaining his experience with McLaren, now that's reality......

From a completely different angle I look at all of these cars as being potential garage queens to be occasionally taken out once a year and possibly used in a very controlled setting, perhaps a few demonstration laps or some such. And they really do come with every safety device possible to keep the occupants safe and in todays litigious society (esp. post Paul Walker Carrera GT) you would specify cars that way if you were a major manufacturer wouldn't you. But as a counterpoint consider your average boyracer in his 800bhp turbo supra, would he fit traction control? 53 airbags? everything else? and who has the most fun? the best driving experience?

I agree with Jim G when he says the future is small, light and extremely efficient....... And likely as much if not more fun.

But fanboys, don't make ridiculous claims, your P1 aint gonna get faster and your pen:s aint gonna get bigger. Arent they both ample?

No P1 owner like myself claiming the P1 a daily drive car hell I don't believe any exotic is !! due to lots of facts one of them you can't park such cars anywhere and everywhere.

For a DD buy a Rolls/Mercedes or an SUV or my favorite an FF.

Aa far as the 918 I tested a full spec ws twice, and I would pick a P1 over it anyday.

does my deissiuon means the 918 a bad car no, but it's a personal preference and I like the P1 way more for a lot of reasons.

And I just spent a full day at woking and I can assure you McLaren taking their job seriously and professionally with great down to earth people to deal with.

They did not even pressure me to buy pick anything they so passionate about what they do and they kept showing me the factory, the design departments, Formula 1 dep etc..

And only when I asked about the possibility me entering the P1 GTR program they then took me for a special preview and showed me the car and we discussed the program n details.

I also picked an MSO color for my future 650S order.

All in all they did not comment on my laferrari purchase nor how my impression about the 918 or bad mouthed any factory.

My conclusions after the visit that they respect the competition yet they proud of what they produced so far and confidant they can compete and earn customers satisfaction.

and to be honest McLaren do deliver more than enough for a small new company.

For magazine talks and reviews sorry but that's for amatures. (No disrespect just mho)

I have my own years of experience and knowledge to know what car to buy I don't need a magazine to tell me that.

Very fair analysis and lots of good points but you did say the 918 is not a bad car and that you had bought a Laferrari so please watch out for the bashing since you must agree that ONLY the P1 is any good and there is no other GOD. Just kidding.....

AND aren't we all amateurs until we buy our first Supercar?

    But again fair enough. Thanx

(And I did read a post, not by Mbn, claiming they would buy their P1 because they would prefer it as a DD, rather than a 918, about 20 pages ago and that had stuck with me, screamed fake and BS and spurred me to post)
