Does anyone know this car, or situation? I don't even want to get involved, but looking around and the Nashville area since I have a planned drive down South coming up. If you read the ad, could someone explain a scenario that isn't sketchy? It seems very vague...

If there is a lien, there's a title... Wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole!

In some states you can research the title and find out the lien holder, contact them and see if they will discuss the balance on the car and agree to a payoff and ownership transfer. Regardless it's tricky and wise to get an attorney involved if you do work out a deal. It's often not worth it as the car is two steps from stolen if it's being sold in the manner it is and may have drama with the previous owner you don't want to get wrapped up in (jail, bankruptcy, divorce etc).

There's something really wrong here. If there is a lien, then the lien-holder has a legal title to at least a portion of the sale proceeds. It sounds as though someone is attempting to sell a car that they don't really own. It might be fun to hear the no-doubt tortuous explanation from the "seller".

    Pretty clear.

He's selling you the car as is, and screwing the lien holder.
If you strip it for parts, then all left for the lien holder is parts which have the VIN stamped on it and are traceable.
You could probably even strip out the power train.

Welcome to the sub-prime car loan market crash.

I used to live in Nashville, TN and still have many contacts and friends there who are owners of exotics of all types, are intelligent business owners, and are extremely trustworthy and nice people. I also still have a 615 (Nashville area code) phone number if you want me to call or help out personally.

If you do decide to go through with looking at the car (I don't know anything about titles, liens, ect. so can't help you there) I am sure any one of them would:

    A. Go look at the car to see if its real and at least get you info on it.
    B. Provide assistance should you want to go look at the car as I would not recommend you going there on your own for even a look on your own.
    C. Offer you any other reasonable help, whatever while you are in the city.

Good luck and if I can help in any way PM me.

    Cheers,
    Nate

Nate, I appreciate the response. I am weirdly interested in finding out this situation, though my mind says don't bother, I'm more perplexed with how this situation would work, than actually wanting to buy the Scud. I leave early Oct. and head to Alabama, if it's still available, I might swing through, I will keep you posted. Thank you for offering the helping hand.

    Hi Ken @19633500GT

Would you possibly be able to email me regarding this thread? My email is [email protected]

I can't click the link on this posting as it's expired but I believe this is a car I leased to a gentleman out of Tampa that is now involved in a legal issue.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Michael
