Rossa Corsa 550 M

Everyone says red is the most common color but I don't think it's true on the Maranellos. When I was looking, the vast majority for sale were black or silver.

 

That could be because the Red ones sell quicker! ;-)


P.S. ISTR reading some unnoffical stats on here that suggest that circa 50% of Maranellos may have been red.

 

I've been looking for six months. Finally saw my first red one - $95, 13k miles. Sold in four days. Unfortunately, not to me...

 

My highly unscientific results -

Completed eBay listings: 3 black, one silver.
Autotrader: 3 silver, 2 black, one red
Cars.com: 4 silver, one black, one blue.

 

I'm not aware the 550's ever used the "M" in their model number.

 

The AutoTrader one - the only red one - is the one that sold in four days. Just hasn't taken the ad down yet, he said...

 

100% of the Maranellos in my garage are Rosso Corsa.

 

The one that's headed for my garage this fall is silver/ black.

My Favorite Combo for the Marranellos

 

I own 4 Maranellos, 2 550s and 2 575s all gated 3 pedals; 3 are in rosso, 1 in grigio... Love them all...

I don't have the figures for the USA but when I was looking for my 550 I found the following :

Red 104, Black 29, Blue 82, Green 14, Grey 77, Light blue 7, Silver 75, Orange 1. This totals 389 but I was told about 450 were imported to the UK. I've seen one in yellow so this may be the one listed as orange. Whilst some colours are more popular in some countries these figures may give a general idea of the colours made.

 

550 is not as flattering in red as it is I'm green

 

I think Taz has the exact % according to color.

 

Mine as well but, it is a 575M.

 

Sean- That would put you in a vast minority, but glad you like your verde Maranello.

 

Ah, Alex - if you don't want to be on the reality show American Hoarders, you need to get rid of at least one. I might take a rosso 550 off your hands, just to be a good guy and keep your reputation spotless!

I ask myself the same thing when I watch that show about Mormon Wives.

 

Honestly, that looks like more of them telling you what to do.

Those guys are nuts.

 

However, owning 4 Maranellos can be more trying and expensive than 4 wives.

Thank God you can use a fob to turn off a Ferrari.

When the Cats get too hot, having 4 wives can get dicey.

The Slow Down Light comes on.

Just think when all their alarms go off at the same time?

Trying to replace all their batteries must be a biatch.

The 4 Maranellos...

1. 550 Rosso Corsa MY99` 12K miles, all original OEM stock spec exactly like most of our cars here in F-Chat... Street Legal with Plates and insurance covered...

2. 550 Griogio MY99` with 62K miles, Fully modified to race spec with roll cages... 800 lbs of weight saved, the car now weighs with reserve tank of fuel right at 3000lbs... I race with it in the 10+ years old gt class... This 550 now with Hoosier slicks runs pretty much exact same laptime as my 360 Challenge give and take one second a part...

3. 575 Rosso Corsa MY02` all stock OEM Ferrari with 28K kms just like most of us know soft floating skyhook suspension etc.. Plates and Insurance fully street legal...

4. 575 Rosso Corsa MY03` with 52K miles mods: Suspension, exhausts, front and rear bumpers, brake kit now weighs 3500 lbs with reserve fuel and no driver... Barely street legal, but extremely fun to drive....

Reason why I keep 4 Maranellos is that I can always have two 550/575 each to modify and drive around in track and share parts with the other two low miles stock Maranellos... Two with good values as Ferrari wanted, and two with miles and lots of my memories and how I want them to be...

AND it's one of those very rare 550M's - just look at the floormats! OK, after I re-read the floormats, they say 550 Maranello. Just didn't see the aranello part ;-))

BTW, what is the black thing on the driver's armrest?
