Garage queens? Are you kidding? I go grocery shopping in my p1.

Infact I would prefer to go grocery shopping in it over the 918 not only because I enjoy driving the car more, but for the fact that you can actually fit groceries in it.

I'm really not into bashing because I respect people choices and taste.

I could joke with other cars owners about few things for fun but I'm not delusional to believe Porsche or Ferrari not building great cars, as I said before I love Ferrari and McLaren and prefer them over Porsche but that's me and my memories with both companies nothing to do with me disliking Porsche because I sure don't.

and I do own a 964 turbo with genuine X33 WLS power kit producing 355hp going to factory for a classic restore.

So I believe I'm fair enough when it comes to not sticking my nose on every bashing because simple i don't care and I enjoy other people purchases and I feel happy for them.

Missed your anger management class again last week Jim?

Or has Geneva not given you a great spot to show your car on at the show next year?

No, not all P1 purchasers get told the Ring lap time Tiny (I can't be bothered with writing so many "n's" to your name. BTW, wow, did your parents not really want you?).
Only a small percentage of us owners probably even know about FerrariChat...most likely only those who are getting also a LaFerrari.
Must say that it's guys like you, modena and realzeus who inspire me to laugh hysterically when reading your posts, many thanks for that my funny friend!
1 - McLaren have created a totally ridiculous marketing campaign whereby they took the car to the nurburgring and set a lap time but wouldn't tell anyone, except a few hundred people that post on Ferrarichat, and then kind of claim it isn't important. OK, lets believe that is what happened and they were well under the Porsche time and all of the other fan boy claims, why do it that way, if they really didn't care what people thought, then why go to the Ring in the first place, surely they could have either not gone to the Ring, gone and said we don't care what the time is (and shown it by always pitting at the end of the lap) OR JUST PUBLISHED THE TIME.......
Stop it, I’m dangerously deep into the laughter–zone already. McLaren went to the Ring to optimise their P1 and thereby beat the excretement out of the 918’s time as a direct consequence. They never said they were going to tell us their lap time. I’m one of the fortunate few, that’s “few”, who, outside of the McLaren crew, have been shown this performance in raw film footage. I swear, if you start going on again about lies and conspiracy theories, I’m going to puke with laughter and I might die from it. So don’t.
2 - Considering the number of people claiming P1 ownership, do they also tell all owners to post here?
Yes. They also tell all P1 owners to use names like Tin...y, modena, realzeus...you get the idea.
I actually think a lot of the fan boys are fake from all sides but at least most admit they don't own a P1, La Ferrari or 918. I certainly don't and will never pretend otherwise. A few are absolutely kosher posters such as Jim G but why do so many posters feel that their fan boy status needs to extend to claims of ownership amongst all of the BS. My knowledge of these cars does not extend beyond this thread and several car magazine articles and they give a fairly good idea of the strengths and weaknesses of the three supercars. Yet on this thread there are people claiming they would buy the P1 over the 918 as a daily driver because it would be better as such than the 918. Now that simply isn't credible IMO, especially when every road tester has commended the Porsche for its ability to be used every day..........
I’m bored now...
But fanboys, don't make ridiculous claims, your P1 aint gonna get faster and your pen:s aint gonna get bigger. Arent they both ample?
And yet, it's likely that one day even the Veyron will be considered slow by "modern" standards. Heck, not so long ago a 0-62 mph under 5 seconds was considered supercar territory. Great times we live in.

I'm no racing driver, but everything about that driving experience looked wrong. The 12C looked very unstable--under braking, under lateral load, and over bumps and curbs. Was it raining? Am I that blind?

The only other Nurburgring video I can think of that involved this much instability was the video of Rohrl driving Yellow Bird several decades ago, but he made the whole process look infinitely smoother. Yellow Bird was an extension of his body. The 12C GT3 just looked like a problem.

I'm hoping that the driver was just giving it absolute hell, but regardless, it looks like McLaren still have some niggles to work out.

Whatever, it looked very quick. Anyone know what the time of this 'record' was?

    From the video description:

Keep in mind, it was the entire track including the F1 circuit so don't compare it to the more marketable "Nordschleife" times most are familiar with.

    Tim,

What I wrote is just my own personal experience dealing with McLaren, some other here have had great experiences with McLaren, quite a few actually. To be fair with them, I was one of the early customers so I could chalk it up to inexperiences on their part, but I guess they have learn from that mistake and everyone after have had good to great treatment. I also had the Ferrari door closed on my nose before too, yet I am their customer now.

Will I go back as a customer, possibly, once they put out truly exciting products for me, in this business there is never a never. But as of right now, Porsche has the more exciting hyper car and Ferrari has the more exciting road cars and Napolis has a even more exciting race/track/road car that trumps everyone else so I am too tied up to go back yet.

Some here felt like the P1 checked all their boxes, gives them that tinkling feeling and hence they are drawn to that car, some are blindly drawn to them purely by factory claims, others felt the same about other offerings and since it's a free world, everyone can pick their own favourites.

What if the P1 did went faster than the 918 at the Ring? Records are made to be broken. But the 918 will always be remembered to be the 1st production car to go under 7 mins, just like Roger Bannister will always be the one who broke the 4 min mile run.

The steering does look squirrelly under braking but that driver was seriously on it and the car was glued to the track. Impressive run.

When I speak to P1 and 918 owners, they tell me how it's hard to find a location to floor the car for more than a few seconds (more so from P1 owners as the car is apparently very fast at 60+ mph). The P1's female passenger said the car is just too fast and you can't really enjoy what it has to offer on the street.

No owner mentioned Ring times. I suspect some of the stated owners here may not be owners.

Someone who wants to go very fast at the Ring is not going to buy these expensive and heavy street cars.

    Very impressive run indeed.

extremely bumpy track + stiff suspension setup + high downforce car = very low grip on low speed corners

if you take away the f1 portion of track lap time is 6:33 crazy.

that means p1 time ~6:30 is only possible with slicks.....when pigs fly on road tires.

P1 has performance advantages you aren't accounting for.
