How about Slow-Ian ...comes to us all yer know ... BTW Scottish folk have put paid to the whiskey smuggling idea.
Bummer! I followed Neuros thread. Seems sanity prevailed after all, but it was closer than I thought it would be. Cheers, Ian
they've been let off the hook a bit ?Coaching? still banned, but FIA defers part of team radio ban to 2015 | James Allen on F1 ? The official James Allen website on F1
Dan the man says... Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo says the ban on driving advice over team radio could be a "shock to the system" for Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. Governing body the FIA has issued guidelines over what teams can and cannot tell drivers to help enforce a rule that they "drive the car unaided". Ricciardo's team-mate Sebastian Vettel thought that the ban could make managing the cars' complex systems "rather interesting," though Ferrari's Fernando Alonso said the changes would have no effect on the race itself. BBC Sport - Daniel Ricciardo says radio ban could harm rivals Mercedes < video here, I'am not sure if you can watch it outside the UK though.
I watched the video. I see what they mean about coaching now, specifically, as opposed to things like "these tyres need to last 20 laps, so be easy on them", which is not coaching.
A bit ****ing slow aren't you!! [Sorry, couldn't resist! ] What I've been trying to say since day one!..... No problem with "Isobels hits", but "you're 0.2s quicker here" etc is BS at this level! That's what Procoach does! And that's fine with the folks he's *coaching*, but not, IMO, at this level. Cheers, Ian
FWIW, I'm going to throw the BS flag on myself about what 'gearbox learning' means!.... I speculated earlier, with what I noted was simply a WAG, that they may 'skip' gears. Having carefully watched Singapore again, where it's easy to see the displays, I don't think they're doing that. They didn't use top, but the reason for that is obvious round that place. However, they shift so damn quickly, skipping a gear doesn't make much sense either. (I could be wrong again of course!) So, we're back to square one on exactly what "gearbox learning" actually means. Cheers, Ian
TBH now, I'm not sure! And I just deleted the damn thing. In the places where I was paying attention I didn't see it, but could be wrong? Anyone else notice? If I get *really* bored, I'll download the replay to the app. In realtime it can show what gear they're in, hopefully the replay does the same.... I just want to figure out what "gearbox learning" means! Cheers, Ian
Nope!.... Dunno what I was smoking there! Sorry! Here's a grab with 28 seconds left in qualy - Hammy highlighted at the end of the second DRS zone - Shows him at 196MPH, DRS open (the green dot) and, indeed, very definitely in 8th gear! Sorry folks! I'll go stand in the corner now. Cheers, Ian Image Unavailable, Please Login
A slightly better grab; Hmmph - It's still getting pretty compressed - Trust me, the little gear wheel icon at about 10 o'clock has an "8" inside! Image Unavailable, Please Login
No educamation either! (With apologies to the Floyd) I'm seriously intrigued as to what 'gearbox learning' means though!..... Cheers, Ian
I can see how you think that from the grab..... Actually, it's showing he's in 8th place at that time - they all drag that info around with them when you watch it this way. However, only my 'selected " driver (in this case, Hammy) also shows the other data - current speed & DRS status for example. Edit; that's not true either is it!.... Just noticed it's showing that data for ROS too, damnit! Cheers, Ian
TBH, this is the first time I've downloaded the 'replay' data for quite a while. (It's pretty big!). Then I poked at it to confirm Aircons comment that they were using 8th, and, much to my chagrin, it was confirmed. I was embarrassed and wanted to correct the situation. I now have a bad feeling I'll be messing with that data all afternoon to try & figure it out properly! It is interesting though! Cheers, Ian
