355 Challenge badge, 3D printed

Hi again.

As some of you suggested, I've desiogned this F355 Challenge badge for the rear deck lid.

It has the same size as the original one.

It's made in the same material of the 348 Challenge that you can see here on FerrariAds, Matte Black Steel, with white plastic groove inserts -that you can order or not-. The surface is a little bit rough, but you can sand it and paint it.
To attach it to your car you can use double side tape or 3M spray adhesive.

The badge is splitted in two parts for easy sanding and painting -is very long and thin-.

Well unfortunately, the company sent me an email saying they cannot make the white insert.

"Hi,

Thanks again for placing an order with Shapeways. Unfortunately, we are unable to manufacture one of the products in order #762354.

Given the nature of 3D printing, every now and then we catch designs that are too fragile to create in certain materials. Though we do our best to identify these issues as early as possible, some are only found during the manufacturing process.

well...this sucks. it says the matte black part has already started production and cant be cancelled. what a waste. there's $110 down the drain.

 

Let me know when it's fixed so I can re-order the insert.

 

A small paintbrush and a little paint.....not too hard.

I'm so sorry for that but it's a Shapeways problem.

I've made a complaint to Shapeways because the part is correct. The metal badge is fine but they say that the plastic inner groove aren't good, and that's not true!

The file is perfect and the inserts are perfectly designed.

You haven't lost the 5 bucks of the plastic inserts. They have refund them to all of you, for the plastic groove inserts. The metal badge is OK and it's on the printing process.

As soon as I receive an answer from Shapeways I will let you know. But the part is OK. I don't know why this happens.

Sorry for the situation but isn't my fault. I will follow the matter actively.

Not. You haven't lost your 5 bucks of the inserts. Your 110$ are still alive and kicking and the badge is on production!!!

Don't worry. It's a Shapeways problem, not from my design. You can reorder it as soon as they told me what the problem is!

Shapeways just told me that they've made a big mistake and that they will solve the problem.
They told me that they have already contacted some of you.

So let's see guys.

I'm very sad about this situation and very angry with Shapeways. I hope that you never read my message to them...

When I design a part, I design it well. I make all the tests before going on sale. You can see one hundred parts for sale on my shop... I've designed all of them in ten months... All of them are perfectly printable. Zero errors.
I'm so sorry, but I'm not making mistakes usually. For me the error is not an option.

Hey Pete.

They should contact you and tell you that they will print the plastic inserts and put them back again into your order. This would be the way to go.

I'm waiting his actions to correct that mistake.

yep....just want to get the inserts at some point. I didn't care about being out $5 (which I knew was refunded)...I just didn't want to get the outer piece without the inserts! all is well.
