My 360 Question thread

There are a lot of 360's for sale. Most don't have up to date service or they have to many owners. I get the impression when a major service is do they just flip the car. Is it better to wait for a car with up to date service and no cosmetic flaws or buy a car that needs service and minor touch up? It seems you have more negotiating power with a car that needs work.

 

Yes, it's worth waiting for the perfect car (if it exists). Sometimes the perfect car comes up when you're not even looking and you just need to jump on it.

 

Additionally a lot of people prefer the car that needs service so that you can be sure it is done right by someone that you select.

 

Since this is the 5th thread you've started on this topic since joining nine days ago, I'm just wondering how many more we can expect?

 

I bought my 360 just recently after 7 mos of searching. I got everything that I wanted (red/tan, 2002 or later, cosmetically flawless, under 20k miles, challenge grill, tubi, last major less than a year, new clutch/flywheel/brakes/rotors, etc) except I had to give up manual transmission. But I have no regrets as I am very much enjoying the flappy paddles. If you are spending $70-90k on a car, might as well wait for the right car. However, you can't wait forever. I only checked 3 cars, but the first 2 sold bec I was slow to make the move. When I saw the 3rd car in the ad (Maserati of Sacramento), I knew what I wanted and pulled the trigger. I couldn't be happier with my decision.

I wouldn't go as far as addressing the OP in such a disrespectful manner. I mean, he stated in his first post that if a service/repair bill were to be in excess of a few thousand dollars, then he would have to sell the car; yet many posters still encouraged him to purchase a 360. He posted about trying to figure out how to buy one at a wholesale price. He has gone on to post redundant threads full of contradictions in a troll like manner. So, chill while he finds a 360 which won't ever require a major service or repair bill that is over a few thousand dollars and while he figures if he should buy a perfect one or one with needs. It all makes perfect sense to me......

 

I agree there are a lot of pretentious types here. It's still a good sight to get information. You just have to tolerate the bully's.

 

From reading the cars that are for sale here they are asking top of the market. Are you saying these cars aren't actually selling at the prices listed?

 

Have you narrowed down what your perfect 360 is yet? Colors, 3 pedal/F1, mileage, etc.

OP, the number of owners doesn't matter. People place way, WAY too much emphasis on this when in reality a car can be abused by one or maintained by eight. Just get a proper PPI.

Unless you see a car that can be made your perfect car for the price you're willing to spend for your perfect car.

My 612 was this way and it was a joy to watch her be properly sorted by a great mechanic. If you can negotiate the price down to cover the service you need done or the majority of it, I highly recommend it. Part of the fun of ownership if you're expecting it. Don't end up paying sales tax and property tax on the 10-20% extra you spend post purchase sorting either.

Case by case, definitely wouldn't make that generalization. Occasionally you see a fantastic car go up slightly underpriced here. Like Riozilla's 612 OTO, just sold, a well priced car from a fellow fchatter doesn't last long.

 

Are you looking for a coupe or spider?

 

+1 Buy at a discount and spend the money making certain that the job is done correctly. Find a nice cosmetic example, fix the mechanical issues, and you have a great car. Also, the number of owners is irrelevant. I never understood that issue. What if the single owner car was owned by a fool who couldn't drive it?

 

Yes... I always wait for the perfect car it always comes eventually .... usually at a higher price then then I like but that is the cost ,,......
and I have bought several cars from Fchat owners and they have been very nice cars...

 

The thing to remember is the perfect 15 year old Ferrari is different than the perfect 2015 Range Rover. You may not get everything that would make a brand new car perfect. Figure out what you can and can't live with, and go from there. I know that Continental Auto the Factory Authorized dealer in the Chicago area, has a very very nice 360 with a manual transmission. It's not red but it has been very well taken care of and good service history, and low miles. Ask is 85K and worth every penny. I looked at it recently but decided on a 430. Now the 430 I'm getting is close to perfect but not quite but I'm ok with it. It has red stitching which I really really don't like but I can't build a new one. It has beige seats with black Daytona inserts and black carpets, all which I really like, and that makes up for the red stitching. Like I said not perfect, but a great clean car ready to be driven. Find one close to perfect and don't look back.

 

And really, unless you ordered the car to your specifications, from that point on it's never going to be your perfect car, eh? You come to a conclusion what the perfect range of used cars is for you and watch for one that checks the most boxes. It really doesn't matter financially if the seller paid to sort your car or if the price is lowered to where you sort it, you're still maintaining and preserving a car well older already than most people care to drive. You didn't spec it, you haven't been driving it, it's not going to come to you as new and exactly what you would have ordered.

 

what mechanics have you been vetting? how have the discussions gone? what will you need to hear from each in order to determine you are ready to now begin to look for a real car?

 

The perfect 360 would be a CS, so yes, It would be worth waiting for.

 

Buy from a fellow Fchater. I've done that twice now and the cars were exactly as represented.

 

Probably a coupe. From what I have been told a spider is a lot more expensive to maintain.

 

I have spoken to eugenio, Franco's and fast cars. Eugenio was booked up for 4 months and he said he didn't do ppi's. Craig at fast cars said he could do a ppi and needed about 3 days lead time for a service. Franco's was a family run business and said they could do a ppi. There is a local guy to me but I can't find his business name.

 

I love a cs but I can't afford one.
