Implying that Porsche are struggling to sell 918's? Maybe they should follow McLarens lead and cut the production target by 25%. I think they're confident that their car can do what they say it can, unlike some.
Yeah, laughable. Besides that: What does it have to do with not supplying a vehicle that supposedly (according to the Boisterous BS Brigade here) can do a 6:30-ish Ring time, and is faster than authentic GT3 racer? Nothing against the P1. But it shouldn't matter. You tell the internet world it can do all these superlative things (via various lackeys and enablers--so loudly), on one hand. Then it seemingly crawls into it's little corner (or the results are suppressed into one--on the other), when it has the opportunities to prove it for all the world to see....Weird/funny (though not surprising by this point). Simple deflection my friend.
Agreed. Personally, I wouldn't waste my time with Peloton. The minute it came out that McLaren paid his trip to Europe he lost all credibility with me. There are fanboys, and then there are bought and paid for fanboys......
They can show anyone a sped up video. Let's say they did 7:04, increasing the video speed by 5% which could be negligible to the eye, specially if you want to believe and can't analyse the video, would reduce the time to about 7:38.56... There can be a video, but unlike Porsche, there may not be official 3rd party proof other than McLaren's video.
That doesn't necessarily mean that they reached that production number. When I was configuring my car they offered me to choose any number I want, so long as it was not taken by anyone else.
Hey Eric. Can you answer my previous post and brake it down why P1 can lap in 6:30's and fast as GT3 car? I am not attacking P1 but considering the time GT3 did no hypercar 918, LaFerrari etc is getting in to 6:30's.
Quite honestly; this only reinforces/helps explains, the ridiculous, near religious, dogmatic claims we've read here (and elsewhere), from him/other like him, with out a shred of responsibility, integrity, evidence, common sense, perspective, or balance. Not surprising; if true.
That's odd - several months ago the Porsche faithful were predicting the new-and-improved 918 with different tires would return to the ring and get a time of at least 6:47, or even better. Losing faith already? >8^) ER
I'm just reminding you of what several Porsche insiders were claiming right here in this thread. Pretty clear the car they ran for the 6:57 result isn't the same as the one they're beginning to deliver 6 to 9 months later. So are you saying it's not better? Randy Pobst has actually driven both and appears to disagree with you. >8^) ER
I repeat: You loudly proclaim your vehicle can do a 6:30-ish Ring time, and is faster than a genuine GT3 Racer (via various allegedly keyed in lackey's and shills via the internet), but you don't provide a vehicle to help demonstrate, prove it (and on more than one occasion)????.........."Come onnnnnnnnnn". Nothing here/there. Next!

CarMaven: This was in response to a Peloton comment earlier: And Peloton's response in the next post was: Yeah, I know what you mean. I always am impartial and critical when being wined, dined and flown around the world too........
I wasn't wined or dined. They covered the costs of the plane ticket, that was it. I was one of the more vocal supporters of McLaren prior to the trip (for like a decade...) and continue to be afterwards. Other than having the experience and being able to talk about the event firsthand, nothing changed. Feel free to imagine whatever you like though. >8^) ER
Definition of a Shill: Shill can also be used pejoratively to describe a critic who appears either all-too-eager to heap glowing praise upon mediocre offerings, or who acts as an apologist for glaring flaws. The minute you accepted that ticket you became a paid shill and that alone brings everything you say into question. Some may say that ticket was your "reward" for your current and future actions. I don't know what you do for a living but I assume from your response it has to do with a magazine. Shouldn't you remove yourself from these sorts of "freebies" to garner any sort of credibility?
I for one am impressed by Peloton's ability to extract a plane ticket from McLaren. I mean, it's not like they are Goldman Sachs and he's on the Senate Banking Committee. Frankly, he should try to get a little wine & dine from them too...maybe some surf & turf action. For those concerned about conflict of interest, maybe he can get Porsche to pony up too. That would even things out and they'd look like good sports. Indeed, if Porsche invited Peloton to drive the 918 at Nuremberg...that video would go viral faster than a P1 can get to 100mph.
I don't work in the automotive world and I am certainly not a journalist in any capacity. The ticket wasn't pay-for-play whatsoever. It was a kind gesture from a couple of great people who wanted an enthusiast to have the chance to experience the reveal of the successor to the car that they hold so dear. It was an opportunity I wasn't at all planning to pay for myself, but I don't know too many people in my situation who can honestly say they would have turned it down. >8^) ER
I "extracted" nothing - the offer came from out of the blue by one of their executive team who approached me at Pebble Beach about a month and a half before the Paris Motor Show. A few other McLaren stafffers who were there had asked me if I was planning to attend the reveal in Paris and I had told them it wasn't in the budget. That was the only precursor and and I never even imagined an offer like that would come my way. No way man - that place is way too dangerous. >8^) ER
he picked the p1, can we have a tally? It seems like everyone except evo has picked the p1 as their favorite.
