LF will appreciate so will the p1. 918 won't. I won't be surprised if the carrera gt matches the 918s price in 10 years

Yes, it has been made explicitly clear in this thread and the other two LaFerrari threads that there would be no more leniency for personal attacks. A single offense here will get you a 30-day ban. A repeat offense will bring a permanent ban.

You were given your 1-month ban on July 8. Now you must be gone.

El Wayne thank you so much. There was never anything that was positive besides attacks from this Guy. It is okay to disagree but always the name calling and rude posts.

Well, one thing seems to be clear during this thread recently.

With all due respect; no one from McLaren, including their internet, and British press lackeys can be trusted regarding anything pertaining to the P1 (if we go by events, and non events). None; nada; nothing. Sorry. Lol

They, and so many people associated with them, have some serious Ricky Ricardo-like (I love Lucy; a classic American TV sitcom) "Splaining" to do in light of those tweets!!

The lies and subterfuge (by them and their diverse cadre of minions) have just been too much. It's like the Keystone Cops.

Those two tweets (ironically, Metclafe appeared to already remove his; implying even more guilt and orchestration), says it all in a long litany of similar embarrassing, conflicting, and rudimentary hi-jinx regarding McLaren and it's (enablers) representation of the P1.

    You can't make this up.

I dont think the 918 will drop to $500k. The CGT is at $500k and there are 300 more of these.

Also, dont forget, a regular Aventador is $4xxk..No way a 918 will drop that low unless we experience another 2007/2008. My opinion is that they will stay around MSRP +/- 10% for a while. Too early to tell since you can still order one.

I'm sorry you are very wrong on the P1. Name one reason why it will appreciate?

Just because a car was produced in low amounts does not mean it will hold value.

In a few years, cars that are better then the P1 will be out, the hype for the P1 will die and prices will drop. The P1 is the modern day JX220, a great car but will be half it's price in 10 years. There is nothing special about the P1 or the 918 that will make these cars hold their price. The next versions of these cars will be better in every way. The only reason the LaF will hold is because it's a Ferrari, nothing else.

I would venture to say that the R36 GTR will be on par with the P1's level of performance and at 1/5th the price in about 2-3 years, mark my words.

I think a better comparison than the dismal XJ220 which was never really "appreciated" would be the Porsche 959.

Produced in fairly similar quantities to the P1 and also filled with technology that has clearly been surpassed by Porsche's much more common 911 Turbo in the decades that have followed, the 959s are still regarded quite fondly and have managed to appreciate in value to the tune of 3-4 times their original price after 25 years.

I've asked my homies to do serious digging, see what they can find out about the 'delay'. Month ago I had heard: EVO had previously planned to disclose, with the video as well, and a certain coinciding publication. One month later...The sudden 'hush hush' nature would indicated something is obviously going on again behind doors. Nothing new, and in time will reveal ...need only a little patience. I certainly didn't appreciate the mud thrown in my face here by a Maclife rep, using a partial truth as ammo...EVO's Leigh apparently posted on ML that they were "asked not to record any times" which the die-hard Mac cultist equated to EVO having not timed the cars, therefore I and several others, and our 'insiders', we are full of sht. Holding to a hope that the delta isn't true (and the TG result in Spain as well). EVO just doing non-timed 'fun' laps at Anglesey...Absurd. Heck even the article gave it away in subtle delivery. Of course they were timed, no tweets by Harry or Bov needed. And the off the record chats (and info from that will certainly continue to be passed off as BS by cultists) let the cat out of the bag soon after article came out...918 utterly surprised them by how much quicker it was. But it was the shortcomings in 'quality' that disappointed them as well. They were quite surprised by the gap between the two cars in the fit/finish/design...the overall sense of the product. EVO publically revealing, printing, that conversation would undoubtedly open a whole new can of worms.

Andrew, my hope is that ALL of them will tank big time and dip below 200k. It would be SUPER if that happened, oh, say in the next 5 years:) That's my only chance outside of winning lotto. But yeah, Dave, keep dreaming...

Therein lies much of my issue Erik. These are OTHER PEOPLE'S driving impressions. The way in which you present much of this is as if you personally had drawn these conclusions. And anything pro-Mclaren is immediately trumpeted by yourself. Anything pro-Porsche in this comparo is immediately played down. Your bias is very clear and very obvious. Your denial of this bias is what I find most troubling.

All three of the subject cars at hand are truly spectacular and I'd feel extremely fortunate to drive or own any one of them (not likely!). Each car possesses certain advantages over the others and whichever car an individual prefers is up to them. I really don't see a loser in the group.

I think it would be pretty pertinent to the discussion if I'd had the chance to drive any one of these cars and so far I have not. I also have not made any comments that should give a logical person the impression that I have - if you disagree, please identify them?

I'm doing nothing more than what most participants in this thread are doing who have not experienced these cars first-hand which is to convey the things I have heard and read about others experiences with these cars.

Please accept my apologies if you were somehow confused.

I was not in any way shape or form confused, but thanks for your concern.

Your tone is condescending to those who disagree with your opinion. You are not the only one to take this approach in this lengthy thread but you have been most persistent.

    Enjoy your evening.

I wasn't suggesting that he was someone who did, but he has driven both cars and countless others in this class so his comments to me about the 918 Spyder carry a lot of weight.

That said, Porsche did invite him several years ago to take the Carrera GT to the limit so clearly the company has more faith in his driving abilities than we do.

...and yes, I'm aware he ended the day by spinning the car 9 times. :D

Direct and honest with YOUR OPINIONS is fine. Belittling those whose opinion differs is where the problem lies.

I've said many times how much I respect your knowledge on all things Mclaren. Mclaren is very obviously your car brand of choice and I respect that also. If you believe the P1 is the best car of this trio, you'll find no arguement from me. If someone else wants to argue their favourite is the 918 or LaF, again no issue.

Hopefully that's not too confusing for you.

Some people's "contributions" here are clearly deserving of less than favorable responses - hence the reason for the almost zero-tolerance moderation policy that is now being employed in this thread.

I'm quite sure all three cars are phenomenal and anyone privileged enough to own even the worst one should have little to cry about, nor would most care what people on the internet think. ;)

Completely agree and am quite happy to see a firm hand from moderators. I'm not sure why these three cars seem to have brought out the darkest side of several people. I'm all for a good debate but this thread has quite regularly blown through the boundaries of reasonable discussion and into something ugly. Hopefully we can all respect one another's opinions.

    conclusions about 918 and P1:
    AWD faster than RWD
car with NA engine faster and better sounding than turbo
Roadster faster than car with butterfly doors
Bigger weight but still faster :D

The current gtr offers performance close to the last generation of hypercars. The replacement will do the same,

However, performance is not the only factor that determines price.

Supply and desirability play a big part.

The xj220 was jaguars attempt to liven up the brand. Look at the cars they were producing at that time and you will understand their customer base. If the xj220 was built by lambo and marketed as their hyper car it would be a different story.

If you want a LF you can only get one if you have a history with ferrari. Most buyers are collectors. This car is most likely to appreciate and hold its price.

With the p1, considering the desirability of the car worldwide and its limited production, will hold its price and second likely to appreciate.

The 918 is the most likely to depreciate because of production numbers.

Remember that a lot of markets are opening up worldwide (china, ME) with strong demand.

You seem to overestimate the GTR. The latest track special Nismo version did the same lap time at Laguna Seca as the 991 Turbo S and we all know that the Turbo is no track car. A Speciale will eat it alive. No chance that the next version will be close to these hypercar monsters. BTW, the 918 was 5 sec quicker than the Nismo and the 991TTS. You can find the mega test on Motortrend's website.

    Over react much?

I didn't say they you and your "insiders" were full of **** - I said that you'd posted no proof to support your claim that you had inside knowledge and thus should be regarded with doubt. In fact you still have not provided any proof that you have inside knowledge.

You may well have, but with out proof it has be regarded with suspicion. If you can tell us the times that EVO and TG recorded for both cars (before they publish them) then maybe we take take your word as good.

Please provide the quote to support your claim that a McLife rep asserted no times were recorded - should be relatively easy.

It does look good, about the same sort of price bracket as a P1GTR so almost a competitor product you might say.

So Napolis is a direct competitor to McLaren then, thanks for clearing that up.

Already covered, I have asked the evo staffer on McL if this means they'll publish the numbers. Would be good to put this to rest once and for all.
