I think someones cap lock button is stuck in the on position. Chill, dude. Clarifying the reason for the salvage title would go a long way towards getting your car sold, if you know the reason, which you really have not been clear about. Your description of a "stolen" car as a reason for a car to have a salvage title was not specific, as others have mentioned. I have a friend who just mentioned the other day he'd like to have a 348, he probably wouldn't mind a salvage title, depending on the reason for said title. Full disclosure is not an unreasonable request.
The reason people got upset is your first post, it says nothing about a salvage title. I saw the price and thought wow that's pretty fair, before contacting you I did my own digging and found the car had a salvage title. Not listing that it has a salvage title seems like a bait and hook scheme
Agreed. The more current posts by the OP with the disclosures just seem sarcastic and disrespectful. No need to yell (caps), no need to treat us like idiots, just post why the car was salvaged. You may really have a buyer or two here that you are going to lose with your obvious frustration.
We can all ease up a bit, as his first post also cited age, and ill health. Let's have a little bit of respect as one day we ALL will find ourselves in those shoes.... I had a friend that died with a Miura wreck in the yard. That is no way to go....
WTF, $30K for a complete running Ferrari with 2 sets of wheels and tires. And it looks good. Stop bashing guys!
OP is right about reasons why it might have been totalled with minimal damage. When my 308 was stolen and recovered it had pretty nominal damage: missing a mirror, wheel cap, some torn leather on the dash/console, broken ignition key and wiper switch. Just that bit of damage started to bump up against the loan to value mark such that they said if it was more $$ they would just total it. NOTHING in the car was really damaged except the switches. It adds up quickly at the dealer and if the previous owner had a "small" policy on it, it very well could have been totalled for not much damage. Agree with everyone that an explanation would go a long way in selling the car. I wouldn't have a problem with a salvage title if I knew why it was totalled out.
CAPS is for my vision and your visibility, and no insult intended but unless you are a prospective buyer, why the title does not concern you and if you read the post explaining why I did not was in no way to deceive or fraud
There are many reasons for a salvage title for each state, I mentioned that one for those jumping to conclusions. I am 2nd owner and talked with previous owner after buying the car with salvage title. As you can clearly see the big fuss over why my choice was to inform serious buyers, not 1/2 the world to broadcast it.
It was stated that each state has it's own standard for titles and that there are many reasons for issueing a salvage title, some just jump on a cart without knowing what it is hauling, sometimes you get a flower cart and sometimes the last cart in a parade. Image Unavailable, Please Login
A truly "thoughtful" letter. An unpainted hood for a 500 series car is 28k etc. wheels 3k each or more and a used headlite for a 348 300.00$ plus...doesn't take long
Maybe that guy from Beverly Hills that had the one of a kind red interior 355 (?) would like the car? What was his name? BUcklyou or something?
When I was shopping for a CS, I found a great car that happened to have a salvage title. I knew the car had run over a rock and the floor pan was torn.... instant total in NV. The repair was simple and done and the car was perfect. The seller was totally up front about the 'why', even before he knew that I knew the car's history. I would have bought it, but we couldn't agree on price. I've seen this 348 at one of our monthly Motorsports Gatherings and it looks and sounds as it should.... except for those red wheels. Not for me, but to each his own. It's definitely a 'driver', rather than a concours car. At least the original wheels are with the car. I've read through 4 pages here, and there still is not a definitive reason as to why the car has a salvage title. The 'why' is a critical bit of information.
Agree 100%. If potential buyers who are on the fence about the car knew the reason for the Salvage title, they may take the next steps towards seriously inquiring. At this stage, the more the mystery continues about the salvage reason, the less attractive it becomes and they move on. I made inquiries about this car, found out about the title, and stepped away. If I knew the reason for Salvage title (e.g. stolen but undamaged with pics of recovery, docs, etc) then it may re-ignite my interest. At this stage chasing a seller to get info that should arguably already be included in the 1st post is not worth it given a blue 348 WITH CLEAN TITLE recently sold on here for $25100. Just my opinion. Everybody can do what they want with their own stuff. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ferraris/456109-92-348-ts-%2428-000-a.html
zoowho2: When posting a car for sale on a forum expect all sorts of opinions and feedback good or bad. I've seen this before on here where people comment on ridiculous asking prices etc. and the buyer gets their nose out of joint over it. I've asked why some people are asking approx. $40K+ more for a car than what others are asking and they go in a tirade and tell me to basically go away if I have nothing nice to say about their car. E-Bay doesn't have a comment section?
If it is not red, it cannot be a "true" Ferrari. Perhaps it should have an asterisk on the title as not being "Red" therefor less than a true Ferrari. Or that a dino is only half a Ferrari Now that's hilarious
A salvage car does not scare me anymore now that I am a seasoned owner BUT... since I am a certified nutcase over proper documentation it would have to be the right situation for me to actually pull the trigger. Tom, on a lot of browsers you can control the size of the text on the screen by holding down the "Ctrl" button and at the same time use your mouse wheel, if available, to change the size of the text. and... You may also be able to change the size of the text on the screen by holding down the "Ctrl" button and at the same time pressing the "plus" key. The "minus" key will shrink the text FYI. I use these all day long to help with my eyes on the screen. I like your car a lot. That would be a hard pill to swallow that it's time to start shedding your toys. GLWS.
