From all the pictures I've seen so far #1006 is not blu Acapulco.

Especially this picture from Peter confirms it clearly, blu acapulco is much darker. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/143406167-post19799.html

THIS is blu acapulco on a DD QV MY85: http://www.lamborghiniclub.ch/PastEvents/GV_2013/Wilen-0006.jpg

He lives (last I heard) in San Diego area. I'm pretty sure Jack Ridell (yahoogroups) can provide contact information. Gary Bobileff may also. Jack's san diego summer lambo event is happening soon, let me know if you want me to ask him.

I fully agree. And there is another possibility. Maybe the first repaint was done in the most painful (and expensive) and best way, removing all the paint and filler and starting from bare metal. Hence, I see no proof in Peters "painted five times photo".

    Peter,
i am not a decision maker, but i look at the datas we have and honestly they seem to go in one direction.
i had one car repainted, the diablo, it has been disassembled and stripped down, any single panel. it is impossible to find any traces of the old paint now. even if the color is the same PPG as original

so even the layers of paint in the car are not a 100% sure proof.
the car could have been repainted the best way first time, stripped down and then painted (when new and expensive) and repainted the quick-cheap ways the other times (when it was just an old car and somewhat "cheap")
in all honestly i look at the old pics you posted and look at the factory list and say: this car was born blu acapulco, finally things match.
IF if would be the owner i would be very happy about this for some reasons:
    - finally you have period picture of the original livery
    - the pics tell the same history of the factory list
    - finally a matching history on the color
    - the color is beautiful and a lamborghini shade of the period, with your car probably first countach S delivered in this shade
    - car is now worth a TON of $, a repaint would be cheap compared to car's value

you can either keep it as is or decide to repaint it acapulco. your car, your choice

but i do not understand what is not to like in the car being originally blue acapulco... in all honesty. to me at the opposite after 10 years this put the end word to a lot of questions
i have a red car...it looks like its original color was marrone dino, rare-beautiful color
if somebody could find period pics of my car in marrone dino i would be happy

    Peter,

leaving the color argument aside, the pics you got are fantastic imo!
great source of infos, you can see:
    - original mirror types and color
    - original leather and dashboard
    - color of carpets and mats
    - LP400 steering wheel
    - CH Swiss decals still attached
    - window handles
    etc

...really all the infos you could ask in these
    tks for sharing!

Well-stated Emilio (& Christian in his post), both of you are experienced long-term Lamborghini enthusiasts & Countach owners, as am I, and I would have thought Peter would be very very happy with the obvious conclusion here, but, hey. I know personally, I would be absolutely thrilled with this revelation at last, especially having had to wait a dozen years after I acquired the car for it to arrive.

The obvious conclusion are from 2 pros, Joe and Emilio (don't know Christian) who side with paper Blu Acapulco.

For historical purposes, I can not and will not ignore the original owner, the girlfriend, Raymond, painted 5 times colors, deep inspection, and known history from 1978-1982 and 1990/1991 to the present.

There was a 9 year period of unknowns. I know of one time it was painted and why.

I will reach out to the original owner again and ask who he sold it to in 1982. If he know who that was, I will ask how I can contact. If he sold to a cousin as history states, I can ask if he made a color change.

This is not over :) I WILL be back..........but it's a fun and an interesting discussion.

It is fun & interesting indeed!

Although it is a combination of factory records + period images + proof of repaint that made up my mind, I must say that the strongest factor for me are the period images. I mean, there it is, sitting there in Blu Acapulco Metallizzato. No matter that some may see the color differently, I'm quite confident that is BA, Ive seen enough old images to be comfortable with my opinion, and to me pictures don't lie, even the faded ones.

With all due respect to the owner and his erstwhile girlfriend (!), faded memories from 30 years ago don't count for much if anything for me. Ive learned this the hard way. If we're being asked to rely on the memory of a girlfriend from 30 years ago over factory records + physical images, I think the train has left the station.

Given the level of restoration that Albert did, I would agree.

Steering wheel wrong, leather next to seats probably ruined with the aftermarket speakers cut in and mounted on top, non original livery including the painted wheels, for an EYE WATERING $$. I don't want to bash the car, but I also don't want to think about the all in cost of it to put it right. Not market correct which is why it's been available for a few weeks plus. If priced right I'd rock it, but it isn't.

These are from Japan this past week.

Photo credits I beleive are Toshikatsu Kuboki.

Agree! Really amazing! I think it's impressive how young these guys are. Fellas of the late 80's I guess.
