I have been on Fchat for 5+ years and have never found Jim G anything less than fair and honest, opinionated, yes but never dishonest, so if he says a car is one thing or another, believe it. And he is one of the few with the money and the ability to buy these cars and use them, that's why the factories line up to sell him cars. As for the times, I still reckon that several posters will only accept the results if it favours the P1 otherwise a deluge of excuses trying to find an angle that will suit their chosen narrative. The headline will read "EVO magazine cheated" or some such.......
I'm not saying he isn't fair, honest and opinionated. But he is a competitor (commercially and sporting) to McLaren. So it does need to considered in valuing his comments. If the numbers come out and show that then fair play to Porsche and better luck next time McLaren.
I guess, this is why we don't see H2H's, or fully instrumented P1 test from American or non British European rags, and when we do with the Brits, the numbers (or at least most, some of the more important ones) are suppressed. Apparently, Metclafe took his tweet down already (at least when I tried to click on it last night). Can you say "guilty" or "embarrassing"? The subterfuge and coverup (apparently) continues. Ian went on another site, and denied they ever timed the cars (said the same about weighing them as well, though they were at a track). I know, these may be your blokes, so you may not want to directly criticize, giving them the benefit of the doubt....Understandable. But you can't make this up. It's all been quite comical and amusing. Lol
agree completely. especially your sentiment per the 3 cars, just the cars in and of themselves, and not the circus surrounding them. From the top, and woven everywhere in 600 pages of this thread, in spite of all the nitpicking, eye poking back and forth (a lot of times in good fun) I have always felt that which you wrote. Hence, from the beginning, everywhere in between and as of right now, the 3 cars are/have been in my fantasy garage. I've stated many times why/what I like/dislike from each, so I won't get into that, but as you summed up...they each have certain advantages and they are all engineering marvels. None of which is 'perfect' in my mind, but as they are, still simply a fantasy. Anyhow, gotta run and go buy another lotto ticket.
No, you mean CERTAIN PEOPLE wouldn't listen. Lol I'm sure, even now they haven't even digested that information/fact (or the finality of it), and will pretend it never existed. It's probably erased out of their collective minds and psychic's (if it ever entered in the first place) already, as we converse. Rest assured; Some of us here do believe in a round (or spherical for the fact/Geometry nannies) earth. I promise.
The on-board footage is even better. Can't wait to drive that track some day, preferably in a McLaren! >8^) ER
I wish I made it there with my P1 ! But I was traveling. was talking to McLaren and I was told one of the P1s was piloted by ex Formula One Champion Emerson Fittipaldi !!! Mbn
Haha, in the past few days I made a social experiment - participating there with pure facts and nothing against anybody. After being insulted several times, finally got banned for "trolling" Being grown people there (sick fanatics, but anyway), didn't expect to be so easily manipulated, haha
Must be something in the water coolant Meanwhile looking for mclaren news I found something interesting in Bloomberg regarding a poster on this forum. Mclarens put you in troubles, I'll say no more
Because it was obvious you were only participating to criticize the brand. Citylad on the other hand does actually provide some interesting insights, despite being almost anti-McLaren 24/7.
Actually if you look at my early posts, you'll notice that I was only on this forum to provide insights and information regarding all things McLaren. But obviously feeding the trolls and getting insults from those usual suspects in this thread didn't end up very well.
Got to hand it to porsche. They really knocked this out of the park. Everyone was expecting it to be the slowest. Not a huge porsche fan but the 918 deserves the praise

So what's the general consensus.. ? 918 is the fastest. Performance is very accessible. Relatively easy to drive. P1 is could be faster IF you learn how to drive it properly, which may or may not happen.. depending on your talent. It feels faster and because of the steep learning curve, possible more rewarding. LaF is LaF. I am one of those people.. I was almost certain that it will be the slowest.. especially after what Harris said ..

Porsche were also certain of becoming an also-ran, that's why they delayed production at least 9 months and significantly improved the 918's power delivery. Maven will be along shortly to implore that this was Porsche's plan all along. Good decision anyway you slice it, as had it failed to be competitive they'd have a real problem on their hands filling that order queue. Even with their initial plan to build 25% less cars then they ultimately delivered with the CGT program they still haven't found buyers for all of them, surprising even me at this point. Must feel too heavy and have dodgy brake feel that doesn't inspire confidence; but yeah, great car in the end. >8^) ER
