    Mr fanboy Porsche advocate

This is the first production car with top mounted exhaust pipes. This has its benefits and compromises.

The design covered 1 million miles of factory testing, not customer driving miles.

I hope that this is the last case and this problem gets resolved.

I stopped visiting Fchat for a month or so because of the endless, circular 918/P1 debate. Good to see it is still alive and well.

Both cars are pretty amazing and I believe the performance differences to be fairly negligible. Yet they offer two completely different experiences: the 918 is a very, very nice driving super car, well built super fast and easy to drive; the P1 sounds like a caged beast behind your head, part living animal, part modern can-am race car, with excellent ergonomics.

Both cars make the high end sports car seem... lacking in all dimensions.

I've committed to one of each: P1 coming in late November and 918 mid next year. I am attracted to each company's interpretation of the "super car".

That said, I sure hope the 918's fuel filler proximity to hot exhaust does not turn out to be a fundamental design flaw. That wouldn't be good!

You said, that you are a future owner, right??

What's the difference between filling fuel in Toronto and ROW?

Hey, maybe someone was just talking on the cellphone while pumping gas ignoring the posted warnings. :)

Do you pump your own gas in Toronto, or is it like New Jersey, where someone has to fill it for you?

If Peloton's posts have been condescending, I can't begin to describe the words that some other members have continued to spill out.

Peloton has been nothing but professional and matter-of-fact.

Yep!!! Somehow the LF fans/owners have managed to keep clear of this one.

    And congrats on your purchases!

    Who said I wasnt

The difference is owners vs engineers using the cars. Sometimes problems pop up in real life that a test cannot simulate.

Gt3 has also undergone testing, was it the drivers fault that those cars burned up?

There it is folks, Drift has it all figured out. Case closed. He's canceling his order. No more 918 'for when the weather's nice'.

story keeps getting better and better... just received a couple of messages that fire started from brake rotor...owner was re-filling after a nice hard drive. Unknown how person pumping gas accidentally got fuel on wheel into brake. hmm....the insurance/liability claim on this one will be interesting...

Don't forget to remove the protective wrap from the navi screen of the 918, when you decide to give us pictures of "your" new car... :)

Whats surprising is that the gt3 beat the turbo s by almost 2 seconds.

Different tracks suit different cars I guess

The GT3 beat the Turbo S at Nurburgring so it is not the track but the car, I would think.

But you also have to acknowledge that the Porsche has better tires, and the 650s is a convertible.

Stiffness is indeed almost the same, but there's more weight from the motors and roof mechanism...

And while you're at it, don't be overly confident, 650S GTR is in development. ;-)
