Crank or no crank? 355 5.2's only

For owners of 355 5.2 motronics if your immobilizer is active (ON) does your engine crank over but car not start?

one owner '96 MY says NO crank and no start

at least one owner with a '98 and one with a '99 MT says YES will crank over but no start.

Any others? What about '97 MY?

 

My 97 MT does not turn over.

 

My '98 does not turn over.

98, starter cranks. Brian Crall has confirmed it's the same immobilizer with just a different cut off stratagy.

It looks like a '98/'99 update to drain more power from the battery.

Cranks, no start

Crazy how they are all over the place, regardless of build date!

 

I wonder if it's a safety issue since it seems only the F1 cars engage the starter. I've noticed that MT F355's don't have a clutch safety switch like most cars.

Sorry, mine does crank, no start. My neighbors 99 gate also cranks, not start. We just tried them both.
