?

Which 355 would you buy?

  1. Manual and would pay more for it

  2. Prefer Manual but would consider either depending on price

  3. F1 only and would pay more for it

  4. Prefer F1 but would consider either depending on price

  5. I like both equally

You have taken that comment out of context. (The one about Ferrari and F1).

I had a 95 manual spider, now a modern F1 Maser. Almost equally fun IMO. 2 different cars....sure. I voted 6 speed manual. Something about using the left foot to get the car to move or slow down gives me goose bumps. Not voting based on maintenance costs or how old the technology may be; voting on machine involvement.

I read it..I didnt take that out of context .I dont care about F1.. and to your suggestion If you go against that philosophy you should by a different car. The answer is.... NO.

Many people have been highlighting the importance of poll results, so here's one regarding F1's reliability, in case some of us think the F1 is more prone to problems and/or scares people away, therefore "less valuable":

    FerrariChat.com - View Poll Results

Again, may I remind two things:

    1) The 360 uses the same hardware than the 355.

    2) To put emphasis on how reliable the F1 is, the poll starter said "any issues (owners had) count" in order to vote "against" the F1.

As of this instant, the poll is showing 37 and 8 in favor of the F1.

    Kindest regards,

    Nuno.

That pole has zero manual transmission content, so I don't see how relevant it is to the preference between F1 vs Manual. Secondly, the result of that poll also shows that there are issues with F1, even if not everyone has it.

Here is what I do when I look for a car, and I am still looking

F1: immediate pass, no need to look any further, at any price.
If 6 speed, then we go

    GTB
    Red, or Blue
    Tan, or black
    mileage
    conditions
    Price

    My requirements were quite similar.

    GTB was first.
Ext. Red, Black, Dk Blue, Grigio was a slight consideration.
Int. Tan, or Black, or burgundy with Grigio exterior.
mileage the lower the better. Must be under 10K
    Condition
Year I ultimately wanted a 95 because in MA I knew I wouldn't have to worry about emissions testing and exhaust work would be easier without CEL issues.
Price Pay what it cost to get the car that met my requirements within reason
Transmission for me was determined by the year.

I think some of the immobilizer issues that the 96 - 99 potentially have would effect my decision more than what transmission came in the car.

The article highlights the lack of manual's produced in 98-99 (the good years) no disrespect to the 355 crowed but if you read the complete article but this is an anti 355 buyers guide. As I say that my 348 Spider is currently under the knife with an expected $10,700 bill

Funny thing I asked some folks down at the compound what is manual transmission and they said the kind with the paddle shifters

Then I asked if they ever drove a car with a clutch and most said never but they have seen it

The article really doesn't make sense. It says F1 cars are worth more, but '98 and '99 manuals are worth up to 20% more, so which is it? '97 f1 cars are worth more than '95-'97 manuals but '98 and '99 manuals are worth more than any of the f1's? That's just stupid logic.

you dont get it.. nothing special about a 95-97 stick they all came that way!!!..98 halfway into production the f1..so there are still a fair amount of 98 sticks, but alot less than other years..99 sticks are very few..Its obvious..so, if you have one of those..Yeah plan on a premium, but 95-97 forget it!!

I am a fan of the F1 but chose a stick for my own enjoyment and I really wanted a '95.

Definitely not looking like an option to replace the f1 pump with oem 355 part though. The 360 pump route as discussed would be much better (if or when your part (if ever) needs replacing.)

how well is this poll set up?? ..yeah 99 manual would pay more than a 1999 f1 because of rarity!!..not 99 f1 versus 97 stick would never pay more..so this is very misleading!!

Who says a '99 stick is collectable? You are the first person that I have ever seen postulate that one. I have never even heard of a model yesr premium except the nebulous '95 debate before.

Big deal. Go find a green, F1 spider also. It is a rare thing as well. Rarity as in low production for a model year doesn't mean the market covets it.
