Excuse me? What is over my head? If you paid a premium for '99 manual, then that's your business. I wouldn't go out shopping for a 98 or 99 gated and expect to be paying a premium because of the model year and in my time here I have seen no evidence or even postings in here that that is so. You are are the first person to mention that. I am crystal clear on your statistics of production numbers for transmission types vs. modle years. I don't think that there is any validity to the statement that a lower production volume in a particular model year carries any cache in the marketplace for that fact.
I've been obsessed with the 355 since in came out. I have read and experienced more than the average poster here related to the 355. With that said there is no meaningful difference in 96-99 model years. They are all 5.2 monotronic and had the same features and specs offered.
Agreed Steve. 4respy is trying to say that manual versions 98 or 99 carry a premium over other years because not mnay were made in those years. I have never heard that argumnet until now. I just reread that Forza article and they make the same statement as well. But then again they dont even have enough editorial concern to correct spelling mistakes as is "desireable" rather than "desirable"
Everyone's opinion is only as valuable as one opinion. It doesn't matter how loud one person screams and makes their case that the F1 355 is more valuable than the 3 pedal for reasons A, B and C. They aren't right just because they are the most obnoxious in making their case. The vocal minority is all that makes them. Not worth arguing with them. Another poll might be fun though
What you don't get is that there's absolutely no difference between a '96 and '99 stick car, so why is one worth 20+% more? Makes zero sense.
Bob, I re-posted that article. I think that is where he got that from but I could be wrong. I found that very interesting as well. I have never heard that one before until I read that article. I have heard the 95 premium from different people. I don't see what everybody gets upset over if one year or another or one variation is worth more than the other. It will not be that significant. It also will not effect the value of your car. The car's own presentation will effect that more.(mileage, condition) If a Spyder, or GTS is worth more than a GTB. Good for the person who owns it.
That might be true, but Ferrari made 11000+ 355's so how collectable are any of these cars really going to be. It isn't like a F40, 288 GTO, Enzo, or even a 512TR.
Exactly..Mine just hit 41k. Going to drive until theres nothing left then make a coffee table out of it
Randy that would be the best coffee table ever!!! Now that would be rare. How many F355 coffee tables exist? I don't know how collectible it would be outside of our community.
Does it matter what they might be worth , its speculation , just drive em and enjoy em , 348 or 355. If most of you fall into my age group , 40 or 50 , we'll probably be dead before these cars have any serious value. At least they'll look in my coffin and say theres a guy who drove the crap out of his ferrari and loved every minute of it ! " serenity now "
Oh no. My coffee table will be worth more than yours! It all just makes for good fchat fodder. But we as owners are somewhat qualified to speak and debate on these issues. Again that twist on valuations based on year was out of the blue for me.
How may 3x8's were made? Notice their prices lately? Any decent example is worth a significant premium over a 355. I venture to guess I could easily get over $75k for my one owner, 30k miles 85 308 GTB QV. Maybe significantly more. For the topic, only flappy paddle I would buy would be a dual clutch.
I don't remember off the top of my head, but is it 13,131? I cheated. It was in Classic & Sports Car magazine Aug 2014 edition. Ferrari's Best Buys. Why Maranello's V8s still offer great value for money. They had the 308, 328, 348, and 355. And the Winner Is? "THE 328". I still prefer my 355 more though.
