    Anybody know of a clean US based "street legal" 355 C for sale ? Prefer one setup primarily for street use (with occasional track time). Must be well maintained with a proper written service/repair history. I am NY based if that matters. Thank you.

    good luck in your search,

    i would try and look for an 88/89 car, as they were the most developed and basically factory built cars...

    replacing the missing parts can be pricey so make sure it has all thge right bits, for example the big brakes, wheels, 2 exhausts, roll cage, etc

    I assume you mean - 98/99. Nonetheless, OP is looking for street and track use; in most US states, only 95s can legally be street-registered with 17-digit VIN.

    Converted later year cars should be register-able as well, not sure how many there are of those, though.

    If you find anything interesting please PM me and I'll do the same. Seems that only 95 355C's came with a title and therefore they are the target. That being said, I'll take any super clean 355C that is (or can be) registered in NY State. I believe NY will permit a car to bear a "collector" or "show" type license plate if the cars primary function are car shows (and the like), but clearly this is not the way to go for a 355C. I'm sure a factory 355C that has never been modded is out there but they clearly are a distinct minority of the breed. Most 355C's I've seen for sale are priced from $45K-68K and have been tracked and modded heavily with zero street usage (ie. dedicated track cars). If anybody has a lead on a street legal 355C I'd appreciate a PM. Thank you.

    Of course- they're race cars. With all due respect, who would have bought a 355CH and expected to drive it on the street, rather than using it for its intended purpose? Few people would want to drive around in a hot, noisy car that rides like a truck and has no street equipment. Even if they did, there are legal issue to contend with.

    sorry, but many of the 355C's are street legal, they are possible to find.

    Not in the US, which is where the OP is located. Only '95s have a proper VIN that will allow a car to be titled, and even in those cases the cars are not necessarily legal for road use even though titled.
    The OP appears to be a lawyer (as am I), and I'd urge long and hard consideration of the various federal and state legal issues involved here, none of which I'm interested in commenting on further in a public forum.

    I concur except that some of us have multiple cars and are looking for something different. I have no problem with the racetrack only heavily tracked and modded examples of the 355C with significant decals and unique paint jobs. Candidly, I fully expected to see mostly these types of 355C's for sale. That being said, I think we can all agree that those examples will bring more unwanted attention to the car if street driven. A hot noisy car that drives like a truck with no street equipment could be a fun driver a day (or two) a week. Finally, to me the purported legal issue with a street registered 355C, while a critical issue, is greatly exaggerated. Either the car has a title and VIN and can be registered in NY State (or not). Pretty straightforward IMHO.

    But when it is street legal in EU then it is also possible to Register in US?

    i had to apply for its road license it was unregistered.

    I needed to gather together a number of things, including a letter from the ferraris owners club certifying its age etc.

    Great looking car. I've put 50,000 mile on the 348 Challenge since 04. Not very quick, but perfect for what I do. Rally, midnight mountain runs, and once in a blue moon track event. Next up, Laguna Seca for the National meet next year.

    Is there a reason people just don't buy a 355 and convert it for dual use track/street since the original 355C still had stock engine, stock gearbox, stock suspension except heavier springs, and tube exhaust (can be purchased or made), very heavy challenge wheels which you could add to any 355? The 355C 's had stiffener plates in the front shock towers easily added to any stock 355 and some 99's perhaps are rumored to come that way. Furthermore if anyone actual takes their 355C to the track with Ferrari 355C safety gear your firebottle is expired, harnesses are expired, seat is expired, rollcage not up to current SCCA or NASA spec to be raced. Stock 355C's have very poor rollcages. Any 355C that can pass an annual tech with SCCA/NASA no longer has the original equipment so why not buy current equipment and put it in a legal titled street 355 and build that 355C? Maybe I'm totally missing the boat and don't understand.
