Well, if my only options were to buy a really crappy Aussie delivered car or a really good non aussie delivery.............

I'd wait until there was a really good aussie delivered car to buy.

    Who knows!

it's a lot more than any other 308 I've seen, and yet, miraculously, looks better than almost all of them.

It sure as hell hasn't done 200,000!

but hopefully it will one day, and with me owning it.

You wouldn't know if it's done 200,000 k's unless you have a year by year record of the mileage. I'm not saying it has, but 38 years is a very long time. 5,000 k's a year is 190,000 k's.

When I bought my GTB in 1988 it had 105,000k's on it - which was believable for a 12 year old car. Wonder what it has on it now, I sold it in '91 with 125,000.

Most older Ferrari's that have changed hands numerous times would have very doubtful speedo readings I reckon.

Interesting and makes sense if you don't have the complete service history of the car.

Is your GTB still here in Aus you think? Have you ever seen it drive around over the last 20 years since you sold it?

Way, WAY too late. The car is now covered in protective stone chip film and it has taken months to get it all done. Couldn't face going through it all again.

It was delivered on 3rd July and it's only covered 530km's so far. Time to drive the bugger !!

    That is a great photo.

Don't really understand why the 328 doesn't seem to get the same amount of love as the 308.

It's a very nice looking car.

    Well, it doesn't seem to.

The general vibe appears to be that it's a 308 that has undergone some somewhat unsuccessful plastic surgery...

I think they are both good looking cars, and that photo shows an amazingly clear lineage back to the Dino.

Sorry if I was misunderstood. I am actually quite impressed at the high mileage. My 328 had very low, documented miles when I bought it and I fully intend to rack the miles up. I too am a firm believer that as long as the important work is being done, the mileage shouldn't matter.
I look forward to the day when I get mine up that high :)

....and using your Ferrari is exactly what it's all about.
I'm guessing that your car is near you, please give some thought to those(very few) who maybe quite a distance from theirs.

TCU reading, plus I have service records since new - all checks out.

I have been told the TCU can be hacked and that modern cars get a "haircut" too, that's why separate documentation such as service records is so important.

In my experience, UK dealers are alarmingly dishonest and clip cars as a matter of course.

I don't agree with it, think mileage is part of a car's history and more important than the illusion of being new again.

It would be like asking for a new birth certificate after getting major cosmetic surgery!
